hello,
just wondering if the cheap winchester 45 grain bulk pack ammo as sold at wal-mart in 40packs will stabilize/ shoot well in a 1-7 twist 14.5" colt m4 barrel,
Just for cheap shooting, I would re-load for accurate shooting.
thanks very much.

They will stabilize, however I'd recomend you shoot the milspec PPC stuff thats been recently available. The price isn't that bad if you buy in bulk. The 45gn ammo has been known to sometimes have the bullets set back in the case when used in semi-autos, causing an increase in pressure. IMO a Colt M4 barrel is an expensive thing these days and not worth the risk.

good point,
where can I get this milspec PPC stuff or something else descent? I'm looking for at least 1000 rds maybe more.

They didn't feed well in my Bushy 16" HBAR...mainly because they're hollow-point bullets, and the last round always jammed (bullet head was pushed inside case). My carbine will eat any FMJ bullet regardless of weight.

Your M4 most likely has a different style feed ramp, so grab a box and try it out... but you should just get factory 55/62 gr FMJ

Win 45gr HP... don't do it... i've seen bullet set back and feeding problems. Bad for AR's.

Listen to Sniper1 and don't shoot that ammo in your AR.

I was speaking more of shooting a 45 grain bullet through a 1/7 twist. Works just fine.

Although I have had Winchester white box set back on me too. It was a bad batch.

Don't use the 45GR. 'Varmint' Winchester WB ammo in an AR.
The larger hollow point tip hangs up on the feed ramp and ends up pushing the bullet into the case...
The fact that it doesn't feed well isn't the problem...it's when that shortened round DOES feed....can result in a serious 'overpressure' situation and may well have contributed to several KABOOMS!
