I would like new grips for my SA Loaded. I'm not sure if the ones that came on it are stock or not. I'm looking for some that fit the same on the left side as the right side rather than coming up higher on the left side. Like in the second picture of Pietro's post here: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2679945&postcount=611

Is there a name for that shape? Any ideas on where I could find some with wood that looks something like this (minus the CZ emblem)?

Google for 1911 Govt Grips and look around and see what you can find. Grips should be GTG to be sent from the US into Canada AFAIK.

+1

There's a wide spectrum of 1911 grip makers out there. You can pretty much get them in any wood, color, pattern etc that you could imagine. Probably the most reproduced pistol grip on the market.

I think they're called 'Colt Factory during a cost cutting phase' :D, actually I'd never noticed that some grips were produced that way. I'm sure some of the custom producers (like Ahrends) could do that for you.

Have any of you purchased from dhtinnovations.com? They seem to have great prices on VZ grips but the website doesn't inspire alot of confidence in me.

That's like putting $5000 rims on a $2000 beater :p. You, sir, should be ashamed of yourself.

Yes, I totally agree. But it was my 1st gen Norc commander & I couldn't abide the lousy grips it came with & those were the only ones in the parts box at the time....

I've since learned my lesson.... :slap:

Here's where those grips rest now:

And here's what my new gen Norc commander wears:
