Beretta 92 mags work in a pt99 ?

Hey guys, Target sports has some Beretta 92 mags for $25 I would like to buy, but I don't wanna make the drive/purchase if they wont fit.

So my question is, are the magazines inter-changable, Also how simillar are the pistols ?

found it. didn't see any mags for a berretta 92. you must have got them all :mad: but i did see something else i wanted, so thanks. santa claus is only going to bring gifts for me this year.

Hmmm, PT99 ... with the adjustable rear sight.

The older style of magazines with the heel release will interchange.

Present day magazine release is definately NOT interchangeable. The mag catch is in a slightly different place. So....

You can get the magazines to fit, but a littlle work is needed to enlarge the magazine notch.

Taurus magazines will not fit the Beretta correctly, but will fit, as you cannot add metal to the mag notch, thus it will be a sloppy/floppy fit. My concern would be how reliably the follower would push the slidestop up with the sloppy fit.

Most parts will not intechange. Definately not the grips & grip screws, hammer, trigger lanyard and the magagazine catch.

The parts that WILL, that I know for sure are the barrel, guiderod and recoil spring, locking block, hammer spring and slide catch. However, with the locking block ... I've run into issues where it had to be fit, it would not just drop in.

On a side note, I prefer the safety release on the frame like the older style Berettas many moons ago rather than on the slide as on present day Berettas.
 
I have 2 Beretta mags that I use with my Taurus. You will have to notch out the holes for the mag release a little, but thay work fine after the modification.

and you'd be missing out on some great mags- i got a bunch of usa mags that fit my heel-catch with the notch half way up for the newer style at the same time- mags are basically a blind pig, no matter who makes them- my 1911s, have some 24 mags between them, some of which zip in and out like butter, some stick halfway out, and some just barely unlatch- i cured an awful lot of these by switching the innards back and forth,reversing springs and other various methods i've learned over the years- and one of those bad mags was a wilson- so saying you use only beretta factory mags is both foolish and elitist- and those are mec-gars btw in case you didn't know
 
Well, USA mags are crap no matter what you do to them when they split at the seam. That's not an opinion, that's personal experience. You're just not using yours to the full extent of their intended purpose.

If you're flipping springs and tweaking innards to make them work, you're compensating for the fact your gun isn't functioning properly.

A blind pig ... sorry man, a magazine is the heart of the gun. Without a reliable one, your gun is a door stop at best.
A magazine should function as it is designed to function in every gun. When you flip and flop and tweak magazines, to me they are then unreliable and would probably only work in your gun.

Beretta contracted Mecgars to build their mags. They were made to strict Beretta specs though. All Beretta mags are now made by a separate entity named MDS (Meccanica Del Sarca) in Italy and owned by .... wait for it .... that's right, Beretta.

No offence intended, but I've run into my share of bad mags. I'll tell you that it was always because someone decided they needed tweaking.
