First day with new m&p

Well got my first pistol the other day (an M&P in .40 cal) just in time for the snow to come and close local ranges. Lucky me i found an indoors range and got to try it out. Im trying to figure out if I was any good though, After a few warm up rounds i managed to put 20 rounds in a group of about 6 inches at 20 yds... I dunno if this is good or bad. Im going to be taking some pro instruction but hope its off to a good start. If it were any of my rifles id be a little dissapointed at the group but anyone with some insight would be apreciated. Congrats , thats good shooting, were they going where you wanted? or gonna adjust the sights some?

No adjustable sights on the M&P but mine goes where I point it.

Actualy it was shooting where it was pointed. I cant wait to get some good fundamentals to work with. I just wish it was a nicer time of year to be out at the range.

6"@ 25 yards for a first time out with a new tupperware gun is purdy good, far as I'm concerned. I can group 2-3" with my Springfield 1911-A1, but I'm sure I wouldn't do any better than 6" with my M&P .40

Next time I go to the range, I'll bring along my M&P and let you know how I do. At 20 & 25 yards

From a rest not freehand my M&P40 will group about 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 inches with my reloads or factory. The trigger gets some getting used to but the M&P's shoot real well for a production tupperware gun. Free hand Bullseye style I can get 3 1/2 inchs or so on a good day. All these are at 25 yrds. You have to learn to feel for the two "stages" of the trigger and practice, practice, practice. 6" fo 20 for your first outing is good. Hope they get better.

Take a good class and learn about trigger reset as part of the integrated act of firing etc...

If this was at the range in Coquitlam off the Maryhill bypass then it's 18 yards if you glue the target to the backstop. But still, I have to really squint to manage that sort of grouping. Kudos to you for your first time out with the new gun.
