WSS salesman.......

The last time I was at WSS in Kamloops the experience was less than positive.

I was down there a couple of days ago - this time I dealt with a couple of people, one who was not knowledgeable but very helpful all the same and one who was pretty well informed and helpful.

I wonder what it will be like next time?

I was at the WSS in Kamloops last week. Took over 30 mins to get someone to help me with the rifle scopes. But the guy that helped me was apologetic about the slow service.

My biggest beef in Stoon and Edmonton is with customers who come in on the weekend to browse over guns while the rest are waiting. Why can't they go on a Monday or learn from the net. Stoon and Edmonton have a couple of guys who are knowledgeable and a couple who arent. The biggest problem with retail IMHO is someone who thinks that s/he knows something when s/he doesnt. Some of the other problems must be due to declining margins or less hunters because you would think this sort of business would be a goldmine. Im wondering if they have a system that advises them to restock after an item is sold. The good news is that WSS has at least some amount of stock and they dont attempt to screw you by changing the deal on you. The prices are not bad as well. SIR needs to get its website in order.

SIR/Cabela's has gone "stupid" with their prices. They are all over the board with their pricing and have gotten quite expensive with many of their rifles.

A good example is their Kimber Montana went from 1250 to 1600 bucks... Almost all of their rifles climbed 30 percent or more.

I guess I will be ordering from WSS or Lebaron, PD or Ellwoods.

That 30% is simply the currency exchange. Everone will eventually have to put up their prices. Some prices listed are actually below cost with the exchange, better grab what you need now! (if they actaully still have it at that price)

Wherever you shop, if you have your eye on a certain item, especialy something imported from the US, if the price seems fixed for a while, be warned, it will soon be up. Most cases will be a minimum of 15%.

Yeah, I figured it was currency. However, when our currency sucked two or three years ago, about where it is now, the prices were never that high, never do I recall the Kimber being 1600 plus and I don't recall the prices initially dropping 30 percent to start with.... but maybe I am wrong.... but since they are the first to jack the prices, I will go elsewhere.

mylesrom,
I did not pay attention kimber price way back when but, I remember several years back when our $$buck$$ really -$sucked, a ruger 77 reached a retail high of 829.95. It did not go all at once, but it was a steady drop tp below $700.00. They have been arounbd the 699.95 mark for so long that many do not remember they were once way higher. Synthetic vanguards were around $625.00 and dropped to their present $499.00.. I could go on etrc. etc. or yadda yadda, but I am sure the value of our loonie dictates price. Some prices will not change til the retailer buy at the new cost.

wss kamlops

I was in there a 2-3 months ago and pick up a couple of boxes of hornady 7mm and 308, When i brought them home and opened them up I saw that there was a 7mm-08 bullet in the 308 box! I called them and explained, but they basically told me it was a small mistake and they would exchange the bullet for me. No one should be opening those boxes, old timers can't even read the writing on the box, rather then the brass. Nice customer service:mad:

Many ammo boxes get opened by customers when the salesman walks away for a moment. Another good reason not just to hand ammo to every dumb #### that askes:D

In Stoon

I was given 300 wby mag when asked for 7mm rem mag lol

Kimber's prices went up a while back but I would like to add that Tikka's & Ruger's went up 20% last week.

A 699.00 ruger went to 799.00 and the cheapest Tikka the synthetic blue one went from $599 to $779. I know the dollar is to blame, but I do not expect anyone in their right mind to pay that for the Tikka:confused:
