I wonder if it comes with the tacky "Tokegypt" grips whether it would be easy to find and install the original grips.

I really enjoy my 9mm Yugo Tok that I ordered from Marstar a few years ago. If this was just another Chinese military Tok with a 9mm barrel, I wouldn't hestitate one minute to order one.

There is a regular poster on the newsgroup rec.guns named Clark Magnusson. He has the amusing hobby of overloading various types of ammunition and testing the corresponding firearms to destruction. When he came to 7.62x25 mm ammunition, he discovered that the highly regarded CZ52 was so fundamentally weak as to kaBoom even under strong factory loads. The ancient Mauser C96 Broomhandle (7.62x25 is dimensionally identical to Mauser 7.63x25 but loaded to much higher CUP) was able to withstand all but the most powerful overloads. As for the cheap, maligned Tokarev, he simply could not cram enough powder into the case to damage it in the slightest.
My concern is not with the gun's design, but rather with the build quality of this chinese pistol. In general, cheap/poorly made guns are notorious for firing out of chamber (which usually leads to a kaboom) because of incorrect manufacturing tolerances. And I can't imagine a pistol that sells for $99 in Canada (which means that its manufacturing cost is likely $20 or less) going through any sort of meaningful quality control.

Its cheap therefore it cannot work.
Thats a great idea but isn't always the case, and only an idiot wouldn't even wait to see the thing before making the decision. 99$ handgun is like a 400$ semi-auto 308... Oh wait we already get those. Alright it can't possibly be good because those 150$ SKS rifles where horrible... Oh wait those are better then the more expensive ones we get now.

Let the product speak for itself.

I actually considered raising the price, concerned people would think these are junk. The Chinese have been making the tok for decades, they know how to build them. It looks like they have stopped, so these may be some of the last ones. Most Chinese gun plants are close to broke these days.

Perhaps I'm an idiot, but I'd rather let an intelligent person like yourself be the guinea pig.

Men in caves in the middle east can assemble perfectly operational chinese toks.

I have no doubt that the two I have ordered will be perfectly serviceable.

As this will be the first matching PAIR of pistols I will have ever owned, I just have to figure out how to come up with some sort of wooden duelling pistol style case befitting a pair of $99 pistols.

A shoe box, lined with a dirty sheet perhaps :p

Dammit, I don't need one, I don't even want one. But at $99, it's been the only thing I've thought about for 4 days. I'll wait until they're on the EE for $150

nothing that ugly can be any good...

Just like the ugly Mac-10, or the UZI etc etc.. But wait, They shoot good eh?

Just be glad they have a new, inexpensive toy for us all to enjoy. At $99 i wont have to freak out when i bring friends to the club and let them shoot this 9mm, sratch it.. etc..etc ...instead of my $2K IPSC 9mm race guns. :D

Hell I bought a Norc $99 50cal black powder rifle... Its awesome!

Well, not that many years ago I picked up the following for $100 or less:

Lakefield Model 64 rimfire rifle
Stevens bolt action .22
Baikal single shot 12 gauge
A Czech 98k
An Israeli 98K rifle in 7.62 NATO
Lithgow SMLE
Ishapore SMLE
Refurbed #4mk1* Longbranch sporter for $99
Polish M44
Swedish Mauser 96 (no stock, but got a sporter walnut stock for $20)

Most of the guns above were in VG plus condition or new.

For just over $100:

First Norc SKS (new) for $135
Swedish Mauser 38 for $110
New Norc Take-down .22 (browning clone) and JW23 (.22Mag bolt), $115 ea.
M95 Mannlicher rifle and Carbine for $210 total.
Remington 870 Wingmaster (Econo stock/fixed choke, but milled parts) $125.
Turkish M93 Mauser for $125.

I was just PMing another member last night about a pump shotgun with Polychoke that was selling for $130, and have seen some plain Mossberg 500 shotguns with fixed choke sell for just over $100.

I purchased these guns anywhere from 15 years ago to just one year ago, and have purchased a fair share of good quality milsurps (Mausers, Enfields and Mosins) for under $200 in the past 4-5 years. My first Norc M14 kit gun to my door for went for $260 shipped back in 1996.

The point is, that for all we know the Chinese were already sitting on arsenals of these pistols that had been around for decades. Add a cheap production run of 9mm barrels, a few mods to satisfy US importers before an import ban kept these pistols stuck in China for another ten years, and now with China full of a surplus of manufactured goods, it's no surprise that they might just want to dump these pistols wherever someone will take them.

Sure, it's possible that these pistols were carelessly slapped together, but it's also very likely that they're made of all forged parts, or gathered from a supply of un-issued service pistols, or just reflective of the consequences of Chinese overproduction. I can't stand the newer plastic stocks, but would love one that looks like the original.

Cheers,

Frank

For pricing, for service, for a great attitude, CanAm is dealer of the year!

Nice product here. They are not junk. A perfect way to introduce new guys. Well done!

I'll second that. He replied quickly to my numerous questions. I'm happy, satisfied and I ordered one :)

A good deal, but not the deal of the century. Lever Arms had the same gun plus a 7.62x25 barrel and 3 mags for $199 a year ago. I bought one and am quite happy with it. I rechambered it to 38 Super - ala Clark Magnusson who I know, and is very far from the nut the "Chicken Littles" call him.

I ordered one. The barrel and mag are worth more than $100.

i have been looking for a cheap center fire pistol and this is the soultion.
