I'm thinking about keeping this gun .... lol .... just like the rest of them ...

Anybody here know what's worth ???

It's a Remington 1902, 22LR, Single shot.
The breech load and extract, reminds me of a break action muzzle loader.
The gun is very light, it's excellent gun to carry to the bush or for
plinking around .....

Does it say Remington Number 6 on the LH side? It should.

The brass screw is not factory, but the rest looks like its in great shape. It still has the flip up peep sight, and I've seen only a very few of those on a number of Remington 6's that I've seen at shows.

Found this on Wiki Answers

And for the #6 in the original question, BBofGV says 497,000 mfg 1901-33 and SCofF says over 250,000 mfg 1902 and 1903. Values given in grades up to Very Good/70% are pretty close, starting at $75 for Poor/10% and going up to $300/$275. BBofGV goes up to $500 for 95% and SCofF only to $350 for Excellent.

These are pretty neat little guns. The action is 3 fairly simple sheet metal parts, riveted together. The serial number is on the barrel rather than on the action.
The action is based on the Remington Rolling Block. The hammer coming forward slides under the breech block and keeps it from opening when fired. The sliding extractor works almost the same too.

They were sold as "Boys Rifles" back in the day when it was considered normal to send a kid out into the back 40 with a gun and a pocket full of shells to spend his time.

Nice find!

Dunno if that means it's early or late production. Probably fairly early, but that's just guessing.

It's in nice shape overall.

Watch that you don't force the screw that holds the barrel to the frame, as it only engages by about two threads or so, and it's a bugger to redo the hole.
