well i own a type 38 with a ground mum and i am going to start reloading in the new year. wanted to know if anyobe else shot these and if you do reloads if you have amy tips.

lets see what arisaka's we all have on cgn. my hope is to one day get a paratrooper rifle.

I have one of these: Arisaka Type 38 made at Nagoya and given to the Thai government as help to "friendly nation". All matching including the dust cover.
Very nice condition. Now I need to find some good quality brass to make that baby sing.

I have a "Special Navy Rifle", one of the substitute rifles produced using a lot of cast iron parts, at Nagoya Dockyard Arsenal, IIRC. Looks like a Type 99 short rifle, 7.7mm. This is not one of the cast iron blank shooting training rifles; was intended to be used. It has a steel bolt which locks into a steel barrel extension, and a chromed bore. Although in very nice condition, I do not think that it would be a good choice to be a shooter, and I do not intend to fire it.

Whoever said they have a paratrooper ; lets see some pictures. nothing cooling that a two piece rifle.
 
I have a T-99 and a T-38. Haven't yet shot the T-38 (have ammo), but I don't overly like shooting the T-99 either. Really short butt and the trigger from hell.

those are two nice examples. ive got a bayo , scabbard , and frog coming for my rifle. just missing a sling.
 
I have a 99short. Did at one time have a 38 and a 44. A friend once offered me 8 Arisakas for 1,000 bucks 10 years back, I should have bought them. An old vet I know claims to have a .22 Japanese training rifle but I'm unfamiliar if such exists.
 
did a bit of research and it turns out the Japanese didn't use a trainer in 22 caliber. they used a 6.5 and for machine guns but they only fired blanks. bah, cant wait to shoot this thing in spring.

tiriaq's Naval type 99

Here is some info from my Friend Mr. Mcsherry on Tiriaq's naval rifle.

" these rifles were chambered in the 7.7x58 caliber. these were a navy contract rifle and have cast iron receivers and other parts. the barrel has the locking lugs in it, so the bolt would actually lock into the barrel and thus, is safe to fire even with the cast iron receiver. these are rare guns and are matched by assembly number which is separate from the serial number. the internal parts of the bolt are numbered much the same as a regular type 99 rifle, but the number on the safety is usually found on the side of the safety stem. there are several parts configurations and the late production 99 navy specials do not have wrist tangs. the ones without tangs are the rarest ones to find. the one pictured is one of the easiest found, but still it is a rare rifle.

You didnt mention if it had a wood buttplate?....Mine does (did)

Tall Terry pried it out of my hands a while back (Canadas premier WW2 Jap collector)
