Didn't notice this half moon until looked closer. I knew it had the mark on the right as it was obvious, but look at the left...

For the selector to be able to do that, it would not only have to be an auto, or burst selector, but would need an M16 trigger.

Take a look and see what you have under the hood. :)

The BATF would like to have a word with you...

Why's that?

It can't go full auto without a DIAS. I doubt he's got one of those and there's no provision for an auto sear by the looks of the receiver, so there's nothing illegal with that.

Seasons Greetings. :)

BATF? Huh? Well it certainly does NOT do a 180. It is brand new from the factory that way with a stg-2 trigger. They must have done it at the factory. How else can you explain the scratching on either side (like something was stuck underneath)? It is smooth to the touch though.

Can someone explain the issue at hand for the AR dolts such as myself?

Ar15 selector only moves to mid position (safe fire). M16 moves to the 3 oclock position (is machined to do so) and pushes down on the m16 disconnect preventing the hammer from catching after every time it disengages.:) (the otto sear takes over)

did you or someone else change the grip?

Exactly, if you pulled the grip out it retains the spring for the pin that controls the firing selector movement.
It's defenitly not an M16 selector so this has to be the only reason, and defenitly not something to worry about. It takes alot more than that to have the gun fire in full auto.
