So I've read the threads, but I'm still confused. Can hi cap 22lr mags be imported from the U.S.????? The gun stores say one thing, some people say another. I've heard the rumors before and I've seen the Brownells notice. But can someone (like a retailer) please set this rumor straight? Please?:runaway:

Any dealer you call now will tell you that the US will not export them to Canada anymore. Until we find a supplier from another country whatever is left in the stores or bought privately is all you will get. Lebarons was the first store to tell me this and now everyone else is saying the same thing. :(

Good thing I stocked up...

I got four steel lip 25 round Butler Creeks when I first heard. Al Simmons in Hamilton had all kinds a few months ago. Not sure what they have now. If we are never going to get them again I would like to get a few more. They are very reliable in my 10/22. One of these days when I get my acreage I plan on plinking a couple of thousand rounds per month on my own property. How fun would it be to plink away on you own property with a 10/22 and an SKS with crates of surplus ammo? Someday! :)

Looks like this is another BS rumor....

I got this resonse from Tactical Innovations when I asked about the rumor:

"There is no law prohibiting shipping them to Canada. We're just too
backordered in the US right now so we suspended sales to Canada.
Thanks
Craig"

Looks like we're just on the low end of the totem pole.

That's better than them saying they won't ship to Canada. I really want about 4 of those mags.

I know Al Simmons is out of them. I bought the last that they had yesterday. I didn't know about this BS at the time or I would have asked what they knew about it. Sure hope this is not a permanent thing. Used hi-caps are going to be worth a lot of money in Canada until a new source is found:(. Somebody in China must be making them. Its just a matter of time,... I hope.

Why do we have to rely on other countries, to make these? why can't a Canadian company manufacture them? molding plastic and bending metal aren't difficult or expensive jobs to complete...

You got an extra $20,000 lying around? To do the R&D and produce them in quantities that will allow you hit an under $50 retail (and still make money) your looking at probably $15 to $20k investment. And all that to have the mags come from the US that are cheaper....

I personally don't, however i am sure some of the board's sponsors do. just seems to me that some good money can be made there as well as supporting our own economy, rather than the americans...
