Remington stopped making the 17HMR's because they were blowing up in people's faces.

I have seen at least 5 broken guns and heard of more. Mostly broken magazines that supposedly got ejected after shot and a few broken actions that broke after shot. Two minorr lacerations to eyebrow and nose attributed to something that happened during or after shot? "case extracted before full ignition" would match the description of what happened. Blow back instead of blow up may better describe it? In any event I have never heard an explanation from Remington, but the 597s did this a lot with 17 hmr.
