L-E Cup type grenade launchers

Legal, yes. Available? Not at retail.

I've had a WTB ad in the EE for one for a week, not offers yet. Springfield Sporters has them for $100 in the states, but do not ship dischargers across the border.

I do now have two wire-wrapped rifles upon which to attach a cup though ;) Both acquired in the last 7 days...

Zefarm has a cup, mills bomb and base for sale on his website, but like everything else he has for sale, it's marked up about 300% too high. At those prices, he clearly wants to keep everything in his collection.

Yeah, go figure, I can't understand these prices either!

Are these available in Canada? Are they legal here?

Yup, legal but not with live grenades.... :D

However, if you want to have some fun with the cup dischargers, here's a great "fun" video in The Screening Room (click here) section of the Milsurp Knowledge Libraryhttp://milsurps.com.

It's a range video of members engaged in The Great Canadian Tennis Ball Challenge competitive match at Milcun, using WW1 Enfield Wire Wrapped Grenade Rifles and Dischargers (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=1129.

Make sure you turn ON your speakers and turn the volume up to hear the sound effects !

There's also another Knowledge Library entry on WW1 Enfield Wire Wrapped Grenade Rifles and Dischargers (click here)http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=105, showing close up pics as well as instructions on how to use them.

Hope this helps ... :)

Those photos and website are what got me thinking about it. I would use it on my .410 musket -- I could get / make blank shells for that at will.

I'll start looking, I guess.

The funny bit. Springfield sporters was selling thiose for $30 at one time.
Now a tennis ball is a perfect fit in the cup. and you can use standard blanks for that because of it's light weight. Just make friends with a tennis player, the balls lose their bounce after a while, and they buy replacements, the old ones becoming toys for the dog or the kids.:D

The problem I have found with the tennis balls is that they tend to get a hole blown through them from the pressure of the blank. I have tried wrapping them with tinfoil (more to stop them from getting ingnited and burning down our range), and lately cutting the bottom out of a pop can and gluing it to the tennis ball. Even with these aluminum pieces, we sometimes blew holes through them. It's still a lot of fun to hear the soft "thump" and watch the ball lobb down range. :D

Here's some pics extracted from the video mentioned above, which shows the problem myenfield refers to. You can see the entrance and exit holes clearly.

I haven't had much luck using them for tennis after we've been out to the range... :D

As I recall the top of a Campbells soup can acts as a great gas check to stop the hole problem. Just slip it in loose and put the ball on top.

I did try putting a firecracker in a hole in the tennis ball, inserting into the launcher, lighting the fuse and then launching. Unfortunately it seems the fuze gets blown out by the launching process. Maybe cannon fuze would work.
