SVT 40 scope mount question

The cuts are sloppy to allow the scope and mount to slide back and forth a bit because of recoil. You will notice the mount has a spring buffer at the back.

You're saying they intentionally planned that the mount would move?

JP said they widened the slot because the earlier tight ones made it too hard to remove the mount to clean the rifle. Then it was so sloppy that it affected accuracy so they switched back to a narrow slot.
