You can buy a really nice little LED flashlight that fits exactly into a 1" ring for $4.95 at Princess Auto. It is an uncoloured aluminum body, but 10 minutes with some emery cloth and then a couple of coats of flat black krylon (masking tape on the lens, please) will render it "ninja" enough for most. They're super bright and quite rugged.

If you want to spend an extra buck, they've got one that is both an LED flashlight and a red LED pointer. Visible range on the red LED is at least 100' in normal indoor light. OK, so they're both made-in-chicom cheapies, but mine has worked like a charm, been dropped frozen, submerged in a sink full of warm water and dish soap, and clamped to the underside of a VZ-58 barrel during firing, and it's still working fine. Besides, for that price you can buy a couple of extras as spares. Batteries are included.

I'll see if I can find the p/n, but I'm pretty sure they're in the catalogue.

I have a Surefire 9P in a CAA FGA and it does the job. Not expensive and more than just good enough.

What kind of foregrip is that and where did you get it? Any comments on the quality?

CAA FGA..!

Got it from Brownells I think, but Questar has some. Quality... what is quality? It's strong enough and it does the job for me. But I don't work in the sandbox though...

That thing is fugly! And with those bolts and knobs pointing way out to the side, it looks like an ergonomics fail.

I understand that form follows function, but I can't see the function being a win here. But this thread is about lights...

I got a decent LED light from CanTire for about $15.00 about a year ago. Metal body, takes 3 AAA batteries.

If it were as you objectively described, I would not have it.

Check out seals action gear they have some Pelican and Streamlight products that are pretty reasonable. I have a Streamlight Scorpion and a CAA mount.

Is there a mount that attaches to the regular handguards? I've seen on before that wraps around the end of the handguard and clamps into the cooling holes on the top and bottom to stay in place.
This is what I'm really looking for, that way I can keep the appearence of a stock rifle with a light attached without adding rails.
