I need a tubegun by MAK enterprises to mount a Rem 700SA. The website is below and I can not find a Canadian dist. Any smiths here work with this system before? I'll be grateful if someone can point me in the right direction because this seems to be a really cool system! I,m open to any similar system as well. Cheers everyone!

The tubegun kit is not considered a firearm and can be imported with no hassles. AFAIK there are no Canadian distributors. Any competent gunsmith can put the parts together. I believe the smith with have to machine off the recoil lug on the receiver and expoxy the action into the tube receiver. I know there are at least two guys here on this board that own tubeguns. Maybe they can provide further info :)

If the original barrel is to be used, the recoil lug must be recut so that it basically becomes a washer. If a new barrel is being fitted, the recoil lug can be omitted.

A minor point, but no recoil lug on the receiver of a Remington 700, only the barrel collar lug, which is easily dealt with as tiriaq has described.

I would just use an internal action wrench, and not try to grab the aluminum sleeve with a receiver wrench. I am sure the epoxy would hold, but it would be very easy to mark up the tube. It would be easy enough to make a switch barrel tube gun.

The tubegun does not require any machining to the 700 action. That is not to say that you might require action blueprinting and perhaps drilling and tapping the action center screw. I'm not sure about the absolute necessity of the latter.

You would not be importing anything to Canada other than accessories to your 700 action.

Being a glue-in, there is no necessity for a recoil lug, although some of the prototypes made use of a 360 degree lug to hang AR type fiberglass forend tubes.

The prototype tubegun made use of a Remington 722 action. This rifle was in 22-250, and actually made its competitive debut at Cedar Springs, ON in 1999. Later protos were a LA 700, SA 700, and later the short Remington Model 7. Since the tubegun does not make use of a bolt stop, the Model 7 can easily be made to eject a fully loaded 6.5X.284. To my knowledge, neither the LA 700 or Model 7 kits are available from MAK.

You can see the clear (silver) anodized 722 proto in the photos on the MAK website. It was designed for prone and F-Class competition initially, but has found its way to across-the-course competition (with magazine), and the varmint hunting community.
