Cheapest wads?

I`ve been using wads for my 45-70 loads and wondering what is a cheaper alternative to boughten wads?

Can you just use crumpled up paper or something?

The reason I ask is I`m running low and sort of can`t wait till next trip to city or for mail.

Some guys punch them out of milk cartons and even milk jugs (poly).

Cheapest and best I have used come from "Circle Fly Wads". I get their 24 guage for my Snider and .460 for my Martini Henrys. They have selection of type and thickness. I know that doesn't help in the short term but is worth a try for the future. I'd never make my own again! Good luck, Dave
