The 20" will be okay for 600 but to go beond you would have beter results with 26" you can get more velocity with 26' needed for big bullets
what kind of group can I expect at that distance?

I did a .798" group @ 560m with a friends. I'm sure there are folks on here that can out shoot me on that but it seemed like a nice little rifle. But to be honest I much prefer my XCR LRT with the 26".
But like it was already said, the rifle is mechanically very accurate its the shooter that causes the issues![]()
That's quite the factory rifle to shoot .14 MOA![]()
Yes it is.
LMAO missed the 2!! No wonder that looks weired.
its 2.798 NOT .798. My bad !!!
Oh it was also a 3 shot group, the 4th brought me to over 7"

He! guys, do you know if an rem LTR 20 inch is accurate anough for 600 meters shooting?
your ltr will be just fine at 600 meters. if you have the right optics and steady hand it should be no problem...
a 26" barrel is not necessary for those long shots. there's plenty of people out there shooting 1000 yds w/ a factory .308 ltr w/ 20" barrel.
The 20" barrel is fine for 1000 yrds. All powderburn happens in the first 20". Tack Ops did a test where they started with a 30" barrel, they started shortening it one inch at the time while shooting and cronoing velocity with almost no change down to 20". The big drop in velocity of approx 40 fps happened when the barrel was cut to 18". I forget where I read the article but maybe someone will have the link.
Handloading some lapua 154 scenars or the berger 155.5 bullets will get you to 1000 yrds or 900 m without going subsonic.
Having said all that I only had the chance to shoot up to 800 m and that was with a rem700 AI 308 with a 26" barrel so far but that will hopefully change this summer. I am confident in the 20" barrel and my next build will be a 20" or maybe a 22" rig.
