Cleaning? Residue will cake all over the Stainless. Make sure to wipe it down after every shoot, not a cleaning, just a wipedown, especially in the cylinder surface as they get hot and like to bake the residue in.
 
I thought I'd prefer the Hogue grip so I bought one for my GP100. Shot with it for a while. As of right now, I've gone back to the stock grip. The Hogue is a nice size and material but I don't like the finger grooves -- they prevent me from choking up higher on the grip because the grooves keep the fingers lower and more spread out than I'd like. I'll probably give it another chance at some point.
 
I'm debating on 686 or GP100 myself right now. How is the trigger on the ruger? Both single action and double action. I've been told that it is night and day between the Smith and the Ruger, but I take that with a grain of salt because so many people are brandwashed.

when I owned my GP100 I bought the Hogue tamer... I ended up putting the Rosewood grip back on beacuse it felt better (fingers were natural and the grip was smaller)

But, beautiful gun regardless :) A+

Excellent job on the springs, I found that the GP100 gets very smooth with some minor mods... you also want to debur the 'Hammer Strut' (take a file, then sandpaper to both edges) for silky smooth trigger pulls.

BTW, I use Mothers Mag Polish to keep my GP100 clean. Mine gets absolutely filthy after every shooting but the mag polish shines up the stainless with very little effort. Note that if you have a matte/dull stainless finish, the mag polish will... um... "fix" that. :)
 
i was looking at a 686 .. i never heard of the gp100... but i guess ive now changed my mind on my first revolver purchase.. she's a beaut...
 
Great pics. My favourite too. I spent $1700 on a sig, and I lvoe it, but I get more joy out of shooting my twin GP100's. Great buy. Best bang for the buck, pun intended.
 
That hand grip looks great. I have a 586,686 and ruger 100 and the only thing I don't like about the ruger is the hand grip is so big and doesn't fit my hand. I will check into the hogue.

Beauty gun, shoot the heck out of it. They are built strong.

I got the springs from Barry at Bits of Pieces in Delta, BC. You can buy them over the phone and he'll mail them to you. FWIW, he said that the Wolff springs are about all the GP100 needs. :rockOn:
