Both 1911s. Both designed in 1911. Most cloned pistol ever produced. Both high end models come with high end parts. Both are reliable both can shoot better then most people. For me it Comes down to name. Springfield second to Colt in brand name in my opinion. Kimber ,Springfield what ever floats your boat. Both awesome With the exception of the names. "Kimber" What a stupid name. Sorry guys for all you know I own one.
Springfield has a better brand name. Thats all I can think of to compare the two. Maybe price? Customer service? Then again its a 1911 unless you have the frame crack, any part can be replaced here.

Frozen Snake, I agree with you except there is nothing stupid about the way my two Kimbers shoot. The smaller of mine will shoot with full sized 1911s. I give the nod to Kimber. Regards, Richard:)

kimber's sis is one pistol i would like to own. i like springfield and colt too, just not as much as the kimber. i doubt there is a poorly made 1911 out there these days, my norc never misses a beat but its sights are crap.

Keep in mind, todays Springfield Armoury (other than name) has no connection whatsoever with the original Springfield Armory of the 17-1900's.

And the TRP is head and shoulders above the Kimbers in fit, finish and overall quality/durability.

As did I, but when I called WSS and suprisingly enough they had none in stock:rolleyes:, i sent them an Email and they said it wold be 8-12 months for delivery!!!:slap:

A better poll would be, what should I spend my money on, the SIS / TRP or a Loaded or a TLEII.

I had a Parkerized Loaded as my first 1911 and it was a great gun, narray a problem. Only I did was put in the GI rod and plug in place of the silly two piece FLGR.

Out of those choices I would go with the TRP. As said, its heads above all the others.

this is not a kimber only issue. springfield is close to a year wait too i've been told. being canadian adds to the wait also imo. as we don't hold much buying power in the firearms market.
i think it was browning i read up somewhere. browning sells in new york state's hunting season alone what canada as a whole buys in one year. i'd hazard a guess to say for every 100 rifles sold in new york state, canada sells one.

I've bought myself a Kimber Desert Warrior for christmas and I love it. I have shoot a TRP once and they are great too. I'm no 1911 expert, but in my hands, the two pistol feel great and shoot the same. I would say take the one you like the most and you're good to go. The SIS cost way less than the TRP...

I had a GI Stainless (Imbel)Springfield which looked nice but needed some refinement to operate effectively.I traded that one for a Kimber Target II which was a huge improvement. Personally I would go for the pistol that is more readily available for the most affordable price. I think the higher end models from both are more than enough.

I agree, I had a TLE II and it was a nice gun, very relaible, shot it quite a bit, but the TRP is a nicer gun as it comes in the box, SCULLy is 100% bang on, the fit and finish are better, and I have been told as of late, that Kimber's quality control has dropped.

I've had both, Just sold the Springfield before Christmas, Both are great pistols but my vote goes to Kimber. For some reason the Kimber realy hates to leave my hand. I have S&W, Colt, and Sig 1911's but my Kimber is still my #1.

Handguns have a feeling about them kinda like wearing a good boot, where one works another won't, you gotta find the one that feels good to you in your hand. All the .45's I mentioned are quality guns. I can't pin it on functionality why one is better, its just a feel the Kimber has in my hand over the others. I haven't dished out the coin on a Wilson Combat yet but Im wondering if the money spent would be worth it they have definately caught my eye at P&D, just gotta get there without the wife.;):D

I just purchased 2 Kimbers last month. A Tle/rl II and a gold combat rl II. From start to finish it took about 10 days to get them from the store (Bashaw's) to my door. Can't compare them to any other 1911s as these are the only ones I ve owned, but no regrets yet.

just had to add this photo :)
