I want to get a muzzle brake for my M44 with hopes of increasing accuracy a little bit. I have heard many reports of failure with them. Does anyone know who sells a reliable one? (ie. won't blow apart/fly off)

A muzzle brake will not normally improve accuracy, they are designed to reduce felt recoil.
If your accuracy issue is a flinch due to recoil, it may help in that case.

There's no way the bayo's going to flip n' fix.
It won't fit the 91/30 either, the distance of the muzzle to rearsight on the M44 is quite abit shorter than the 91/30.

So what effect does this have on the rifles point of aim?

As the iron sights on these carbines were sighted in with bayonets in the open position.

Also what affect does this device have on how loud it is and the muzzle flash?

I haven't noticed any difference with point of aim , but I've only shot it at 50yd ( wearing hearing protection also ).
IMPO it just gives the rifle a look with more attitude.
It would be interesting to fire it when it gets dark tho...;)
I think more thorough tests are required...:D

I have a muzzle break for my M44. Sure, I can "suck up" the recoil, but with the break on I can shoot at least three times more rounds and so enjoy a longer time at the range... So I guess it depends how may rounds you'll want to throw at the paper target that day.
