Anyone know the going price for "good" to "very good" SKS-D?

I saw one in a gun store on consignment and am thinking about it :D (Who doesn't want a rifle that takes AK mags??) It also had a Simmons red dot mounted but I didn't notice if it was fit over the receiver, replaced the bolt cover all together, or some home-made handy job.

I read the receiver mount is quite crap and personally would rather stick with iron sights anyway. What's the likelyhood the original receiver cover was tapped or damaged with whatever mount was used?

Lastly, where can one find a replacement SKS-D bolt cover incase needed?

Will the stock have a number that usually match other numbers? I'm not sure how these knock-offs work ;)

its not a knock-offs ... you dont know what you are calling , its a variant . no other country makes one.

I bought my sks-d when they were easy to find and I paid $229 from the local gunshop. At the time they could be found for $189 but I didn't want to drive out of town.
Not a bad little gun but before I would pay $400-$600 for one I would buy a CV 858 or VZ 58, I have owned both and the sks-d doesn't come close to the cz/vz imho.

I called it a knock-off because the one I am looking at is a Chinese make and the original SKS was Russian, made originally in Eastern Bloc countries before eventually being replaced by AK....

The Chinese are the only ones that ever made the ``D`` variant.

Picked mine up for an insanely cheap price from a dealer who wasn't paying attention (he now hates me). The main thing I've noticed is the lack of ak47 mags these days....

I bought one a few years back, brand new in box for 199.00(felt like I've been ripped off)...And it's an utter piece of c@%p compare to the russian one!
The latest SKS-D worth about 53 russian roubles, no more!

I've got a restricted 16.5" type D in the States in the early 90's. Bought it and 10-30rd mags which I pinned and brought across for a grand total of less than $200.

Thinking if I sold it I would make my money back.

Not a chance of me selling a restricted SKS though......way too much fun too shoot!

How much is a new factory unissued 5 rnd. mag going for these days???? or a new 30rnd. polymer one, or a used in great cond. metal 30rnd.????

Lots of questions I know:D

Methinks the Russians are using Euros now. :D

So 20 Euros for a D sounds about right.

IMHO from what I've been able to find out, the "D" isn't worth the price; mags are sometimes finicky (you can probably load it faster with stripper clips) and besides, they're pinned at 5 rounds anyways.:stirthepot2: Al Simmons in Hamilton has some nice Russian ones in right now for $229., I believe- good quality gun at a good price. I shot one last weekend and I like it a bit better than my new Norc SKS. Simmons is also good to deal with, at least in my experience.
