Ok ladies and gentleman I just sold my go-to gun (CDL SF .30-06) while I'm regretting it, I'll get over it. So heres the scoop, I hunt moose no matter what every year. I usually get out for a weekend or two for CQB Deer season :p, and will be hunting black bear this year. My cartridge will be .308, or as my post says one of the leftover Model 70 S/S in 7mm WSM from LeBaron.
The Model 70's if bought will have the stocks swapped out for something of the wooden variety (mmm, featherweight stock). While the Sako might take a while to save up for another one of there stocks...

Just called Epps and held a Sako 85 Stainless Synthetic .338 FUDDeral!!!


EDIT- Should have said this earlier but lets keep the "other" to CRF Stainless' with the exception of the Bavarian which is just a wet dream of mine...really not wanting to budge much from .308 either.

Just picked up my first Kimber 8400 Montana in .338 and must say I'm impressed. Excellent value for the price. It will definitely see some moose action after Africa.
 
Hunt with a little class, how about a 99R in 358! Lots of stopping power, great in the timber! No need for new when old is cool :rolleyes: (that is why Cito is back with the Blue Jays). ;)

If I wanted to go old school I'd grab my US 1917 or my M305 or my .303 or my P14 out of the cabinet :p. Although a Savage 99 and a W 1895 is on my list of guns to won in the future :D.


M1978- Not really looking into a Big Bore Boomer YET, but a 1895G is on my list for the VERY near future!

So you say the 8400's have some class eh? I was strongly considering an 84M .308 but after reading some rather nasty thing about them on this board I don't now if I want to risk 1200-1600$ I've always liked the Kimbers and the 8400 seems to be right in the middle of "super lighweight" and Mark V surface to air missle requiring a willys to lug it around for me...how does your boomstck shoot? I see you ignored my submission of a Bavarian in your gun thread :p I wasnt joking about buying after you came back from Africa!!!

I didn't want to make a comment about the Make Belief's. Boy would that open a can of worms! Burke, Nonis, Wilson everyone that brought a cup to the coast :D Yeah, yeah we ended up with an over paid, past his prime Maple Leaf captain!

As for the names you just cited off, I have no fawking idea who any of those shmucks are. Sports broadcasts are useless as tits on a bull in my opinion. Hockey, football, baseball...these are things children play...


Just give me a Savage and let me be cool...by the sounds of it you have a few to spare;):p.

Yeah, I have a savage or two, but none to spare!

Please leave something in 21A for my brothers and nephew :) I was always more fond of 21B ;)
 
We might be moving over to 21B soon. All the c;ear cuts and burns on dead horse are growing uuuuuuup. We hunt around 40KM so we're back far enough from the I-ties and weekend warriors (not that theres anything wrong with them). Where did you work when you were up there? A couple of friends of friends of mine used to work in the Hemlow mine Craig Little and Larry Turco.

Gun shoots great....still need to play with bullets a bit and get to the range when the wind isn't 50kph but my first impression is good. The felt recoil actually shocked me but the stock design is good and the recoil pad awesome. Bouhuntress even shot it off-hand several times and felt the recoil was very manageable. That shocked me from such a light rifle. The old model 70 action is bomb proof and everything else about the rifle seems solid. It's my first and my experience is limited but so far I'm impressed.

I know where there's a like-new Montana 8400 .325WSM for sale........
