Woke up last night to a noise.. Sounded sorta like a bunch of new puppies yipping and yapping... sorta going to the front of the property and then a couple hours later heard it coming back... probably going into the woods...

I'm gussing they were coyotes becuase I'm not supposed to have wolves I am about 100KM SE of algonquin so maybe but there was no howling.. there was fresh snow yesterday I'll take a walk out and see if I can find any tracks....

Yes, probably coyotes. It's a weird sound - not one you would associate with canines.

our hunt camp is near Huntsville and I had a bear bait set up this year and I got more pictures of coyotes then I did bears. Couple pics with 3,4 coyotes all in the same picture.

Seen a few wolf tracks too so Im definatly going up there to try and take a few. Just what the deer need!!! more predators coming after them.

I'm outside of Gravenhurst and I hear them alot at night, drives my dog nuts. My house is on a rock ridge that runs into a large swamp across the road, they usually come down the ridge to hunt the swamp at night. I haven't been able to see one when I have a gun with me but one day. My Wife saw them all the time last year. If you guys a looking for a respossible hunter to sit on a few stands with and are in the Muskoka Area PM me.

you guys ever hear or see wolves up there?? I swear I could hear wolves last fall when bear hunting. It was very far off and it wasnt coyotes. Long drawn out deep pitch howls, sounded like a couple of them.

As mentioned I'm about 100KM SE of Algonquin and I know there have been wolf sightings around here.. I'm sure we've heard them but haven't seen any as of yet...

Imagine you are a rabbit, a coyote hunting pack would make the blood run cold - it's designed to make the rabbit so frightened that it will run and expose itself.
A wolf how is just social, means it's lonely or something.

BTW I've been in the W. Quebec bush for a few years, and never heard wolf or coyote; I know the deep forest is poor hunting, but did the locals eat them all?

wolf tracks are much bigger and their howls actually sound good. coyotes just seem to try and make as much noise as they can :D

What about a big coyote vs a small wolf????

What about a good howling coyote?? I hear something howl around here regularly and it sounds like a wolf, but I think i is a coyote cause they all start yapping after.

Kinda the same as being able to tell a jake from a tom turkey by its gobble??
