lets not jump to conclusion regarding SIR ... remember what i always said, ya cant rely on counter clerks and phone ladies .

you right but they should communicate a little better with the ones working for them. with the amount of calls they get about them you would think they would have a proper responce instead of telling everyone different things. Like I said I will still wait for it and hope that they are at least close to the old price. and will be even more impressed if they honor it. A guy cant have to many sks's. they will look good with my yugo:D

in this situation , no matter how well they communicated , they will have unhappy customers . look at frontier , communicated regularly , they still got grief .

thats the right attitude .

If Bell has 2000 to ship,then the 4000 I keep hearing about as the imported numbers,does make some sence. Sounded kinda high though to me. But maybe not.

eye witness said 1000 IZH SKS was seen bcos i think IZH brought other non-SKS rifles as well , bell 2000 sounds about right so conservatively i would say 2500-3000 .

Maybe with all this interest in these Russian rifles some enterprising Russian will start up some old moth balled factory in Siberia & start pumping out brand new ones
LOL

As a matter of fact, surplus SKS rifles are sold in Russia as hunting guns. These are old stocks, don't know if any of them are unfired.

They are refurbished, ready to take a scope, bayonet removed. They are called OP-SKS.

I have seen one in an ex-Soviet country gunshop. The greatest finish on any SKS. The stock was new and a beauty. Price was around CAN$ 350.

I wish someone could import them. The factory that refurbishes and sells these SKSs is www.molot.biz (website does not work well at the moment). They also do the same to Mosin rifles.

I have a photo of such a gun. This one is not as great looking as the one I saw.

tozman : what are those markings on the right side of receiver?

russian gun laws are tough .

Colleague, kind daypart!:)

On the Russian law the army carbine of SKS before a sale a civilian passes next changes;
- a bayonet and bracket of fixing of bayonet is cut away;
- in a barrel drill opening in which press a hard-tempered steel twig the diameter of 1 mm. (ballistic mark). A ballistic mark slightly scratches a bullet. If a bullet will not collapse at the criminal use of weapon - police sees that shot is fired a from the civil version of SKS, but not from a carbine stolen from a state arsenal (it is possible to think, that by him it will become easy from this knowledge...);
- from a carbine take off a sight-leaf marked out to 1000 meters and substitute it by a sight-leaf marked out to 300 meters.
Only not ask me why the all above enumerated is done... It nobody knows in Russia...
One time in 5 years all weapon with the threaded barrel passes re-registering in a police. The control game shooting is done, and a bullet and shell is kept in the special constabulary department (pulegil'zoteka).
Depending on the state a civil version of SKS is for sale from 200 to 400 USD and considered the most accessible and practical weapon of this caliber (civil versions on a base AK are for sale considerably dearer).

My bad knowledge of English did not allow me it is good to understand Your question. Please will express Your question in simple terms.

It's "ОП-СКС" (охотниче-промысловый карабин ОП-СКС (без штыка)) or OP-SKS in English means Hunting Carbine whithout bayonet...it appears to be all milled even the cover...

The Bells are shipping next week??? Nice!

I wanted the first one though hahahaha

gun politics...one major rule - NO guns for civilians with exception of hunting rifles for members of hunting clubs(to became one often is not that easy)...the rest just like curtton quoted...
