Cooey Model 60 Project..... All done!

OK, I think I am done! It looks not bad, there is one little spot I am unsure about but I tend to be over critical of my work. I will post completed pics tomorrow. I just need to find a screw that I have misplaced.... Go figure. lol.

Yeah, any oils whatsoever can cause spots. It takes a bit of practice, but I had quite a few fooled with my outers job on my cooey. Perhaps I should try to dig up some pics.

Here ya go....

Not bad... it may be the flash, but the finish looks a bit rough. If you want to smooth it out, you can take some 0000 steel wool and give it a light rub.

It worked on my Cooey 600... which I am going to re-stain anyway because I wasn't happy with the way the stain pooled in the grain.

Looks like a 60 I did up for my 14 year old daughter.

Will try and take a pic when I get home.
I went the Paint route. High Gloss Cherry Red Car paint. Several layers of high gloss clear coat. Had the muzzle done with a recessed Target crown. I bored out the hole for the receiver bolt, placed in a couple of washers and epoxied them in place in an attempt to minimize movement on cycling the bolt.

Haven't finished yet as I plan to Parkerize all metal in the spring.

Shoots pretty decent.

I can't wait to see it. Sounds awesome.

Hey, that looks pretty darned good. One of the things that I used to enjoy doing is buying a cheap single shot 22, getting it drilled and tapped, and re-working the metal and wood to a more modern (classic-style) rifle. seeing that kinda takes me back.
