Jungle Carbine poll please look if you own one

Have no idea what ###'s are but this is my great hunting companion and great shooter too. About 2" at 100 yards with open sights and factory ammo. Great feel and handling. I am not at home so I can't check what numbers and where. And honestly - why bother? If a good piece comes across you will know it. Follow your heart

This pic looks like some of the British Army dudes on patrol in Malaya,Burma etc.

I have a Fazakerley built one produced 3/46, serial #V30**. Metal nose cap on the stock. Shoots awesome with Factory Super-X 180's as well as my own handloads. No problem to rapid fire 5 rounds, free standing at 100 yards and put everything in the black. Nice little carbine.

No5 Mk1 ROF (F)
6/46 W38**

Front sight is marked M47/C

Metal cap on the stock.

Shoots well, but very low. I have a replacement front sight, just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

(E)

Mine is I think 4/47, definitely serial number is in the AA3### range. A Faz with metal fore end in almost unused condition. Havent fired it enough to know how well it shoots to be honest.

I need to learn more about the marking system ie: I don't know the date on mine. Details are:

No 5 Mk 1
M/47
BE9###

Metal fore-end.

How do I find out what the markings on this one mean?

Its in really good shape compared with every other No 5 I have seen, although it would appear that what may be a previous owners SIN number is electropenciled into the top of the barrel faintly.

ROF 5/46
I'll find the other data when I get home..

I got this rifle from my dad in '86 and it is damn accurate

Oh I'll have to dig for the info on the one I sold but I think it was a 9/47 AC serial number, and I'll check the one I have but off the top of my head its a 10/47 AC serial number, both Faz and no metal cap.

But I'll check and up date this post

ROF(F) 47
Serial # AA----
No metal nose cap

Haven't really shot it for accuracy but was whacking gophers at about 75yards with regularity this summer. Puts a 100gr HP right on top of the front sight at 50 meters, which is about all I use it for. Going to try it on Bambi this fall

Re #5 S/ns

I have owned several, The last 2 I have are BSA , 1945, BDXX and BEXX. One with metal cap and one with out. I would sure like to get a Faz 12/47 or a 1/48 or later. I have never seen a 48 built rifle but Skennerton says the exist.

Hmmm good luck with that, I thought I was doing good with my Faz 10/47

BTW the 9/47 and 10/47 were about 2000 serial numbers apart

ROF (F)
2/45
G4###
No Cap

Not enough trigger time to know how accurate it is. Shoots very nicely offhand though, clean trigger compared to some other Enfields.

Mines ROF (F), 12/45. Ser# T39XX... on the reciever. It's totally mismatched, with an aftermarket flash hider, cause the guy I bought it from (for $100...) sawed the front sight ears and bayo lug off. I bought it for a backpack rifle, and she fills that niche very VERY well.
