Authorized SIG repair center in Canada

I dont belive the are any "authorized" repair centers in Canada. If you need warenty work done, its got to be sent to SIG via R.Nichols. Depending on what it is you need done, there are a few SIG armourers in the country!

Pistol is no longer under warranty. I guess I simply need a qualified SIG armourer. Pistol needs to be looked over, it needs a few new parts and I want the slide refinished like factory original.

Have any names?

Thanks in advance!

I guess start by calling some of the cgn sponsors...The shooting edge, Wolverine, EPPS, ect. they are SIG dealers and they would likey be able to point you in the right direction.

You basicaly want a place who does refinishing, is your slide stainless?
Do you want your gun to be refinished like the original Sig Sauer Nitron or Ilaflon finish?, it may be difficult to find a place in Canada who does that kind of finish, if you find one let us know.
Forget about sending it to Nicholls.

Joe Dlask near Vancouver actually built some Sig P228 copies, as far as I remember. And he was selling P226 and P228 part kits.

If you just need to replace a couple of parts, then order the part and put it on by yourself. It is very simple as long as you know how to detail strip it and re-assemble it.

If you don't, then buy the Sig Armorer's Course DVD first.

Hey speaking of which Terry, did you get yours in the mail? Did you get your 226 working yet?

Changing the mainspring can be a little tricky, but I have tried the method that he shows in the DVD and it works pretty well. You need a 1/16 inch punch to do it - and a vise or even just a clamp (hang the hammer strut over the edge of your work table, clamp the hammer end down, push the mainspring and follower on, very quickly slip that 1/16 inch punch through the hole. Then install the whole works back onto the gun. Once it is in you can just take the punch out and put the pin back in. The way he shows to get the little pin in and out (with needle nose pliers, pressing against the hammer strut), that works well. I don't think you can really hit that pin out, and you would risk bending the hammer strut).

Good luck!

I had my P229 FRAME refinished by Barry @ bitsofpieces.com It matched the original finish perfectly.... Not sure about the slide, though. I highly recommend him.

Hi Ghostie,

Yes I did receive the DVD on the next day so I stopped bothering you.....

Another tricky part could be the double roll pin in the slide (in older German carbon steel slides). I broke mine into 4 pieces. Couldn't figure out what went wrong there. It could have already been broken inside before I used the punch.

Fortunately Reliable Guns in Vancouver had the roll pins in stock, and I got away with only $6.50! :p

frenchman. if it says made in west germany . its a carbon slide, not the stainless steel like the newer ones.

RePete is a SIG certified armourer in Renfrew, he contracts out to Police services etc... send him a PM if you're interested. His business is Griffin Armourer. I have his business card if he's not answering PM's

I used the Sig armouer from CW Weapons DVD for my West German Sig 226. I used the Canadian Tire 1/8" roll pin punch for the roll pins on the breechblock with no issue at all. You should be able to tackle near any issue on your pistol yourself minus the refinishing.
