.357 revolver barrel chop (106mm) update: done

yeah but look at the prohibited item in front of the handgun :p :p :p

I am currently having my ruger super redhawk cut to 106.68mm as well... at a different place, but the 454 should have a little kick, pictures to follow :)

Oddly enough, I was thinking about having the same thing done to a revolver for the g/f and/or myself. Was thinking of using the Astra .38 that frontier has for sale. Alas, still in college and cannot afford it

This item has been destroyed, in the interest of public safety ;).
I'd like to do big bore next too, need to find a cheap .44 to work with.

that makes me laugh eh, a cutoff piece of barrel that is not even threaded is legally considered a prohib item....

got to love our laws eh.... have you shot it yet or still under construction ?

If I was going to spend any serious money getting a wheelgun barrel chopped down my starting point wouldn't be an Astra.

Hope your project works out to your satisfaction, though. ;)

While no fan of an Astra, I can understand if someone snags one fer cheap and then shells out the bucks for the conversion. It does look a lot like the real McCoy, at least to most. What's the shortest barrel length available from S&W for, as an example, a 686 anyways? 5 or 6"?

Actually the gun cost me zero, it was an old family piece. And it actually works quite well, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

pjnorth, you should come out and shoot that gun in Alberta Tactical Handgun League matches. We're always looking for Stock Service Revolver division competitors.
