I am very interested in purchasing a CZ 75 Kadet pistol (the whole gun, not just kit) and was looking for some owner's opinions. I know they're expensive but I want a full size QUALITY .22 semi-auto and I like the fact that the magazines utilize full size mag bodies.

Specific questions I have are:

- How does the gun function with bulk pack cheapy Federal ammo?

- Are the mags drop free?

- Does the gun fit into CZ 75 holsters?

- How is the overall quality?

Any feedback is appreciated.

I just love my CZ 75 Kadet. Only ammo I have used so far is Remington Thunderbolt so can't answer the question on Federal. What is a drop free mag by the way? As far as I know it is essentially a CZ 75 so should fit holster but someone with actual experience should better answer that. Overall quality is excellent.

I don't know about the whole pistol but the kit I bought for my 75b 9mil works flawlessly with feddies and winchester dynapoints. Very accurate pistol.

drop free mags is when you push the mag release the mag falls to the ground and not stop 1/2 out of the gun friend of mine has one and great gun to shoot

My mags do not drop free, in fact far from it. I had to do some dremelling to my Fobus holster to get it to fit as it was slightly taller. A more flexible style of holster should fit just fine. Mine would not cycle federal for the first 500 rounds, now it is all I use. The quality is great as is accuracy. I will never sell this gun. EVER

Its a great 22 keep it clean and it runs flawlessly.I have an cz 85 combat and switch the slides and barrels back and forth.

My kit runs just about any ammo with no problem. Mags do not drop free, but drop a short distance for easy grasping for extraction. Overall quality is excellent. I would not buy a Kadet pistol, rather a 9mm and a kit.

Or for around $150 less you could get a Tanfoglio Force 22 from Freedom Ventures.

Here's a link to the thread about mine...

It's extremely close in size to the CZ75 in almost ever way. I'll be able to tell you after tomorrow if it fits in the same holster as my Shadow.

This certainly isn't a slight at the Kadet and I'm not saying that the Force is better. Just that there's at least one very nice and similar alternative out there.

I like the look of the Tanfoglio and the fact that the whole slide moves however, as far as I know, that slide doesn't stay open after the last shot.

I wonder if it could be modified to drop free. I think the CZ 85 has a free falling mag.

they will drop when loaded and the bottoms are hollow. i have been tempted to weight mine so they will drop but it doesn't really bother me and the notion has passed.

Someone said that the book says it's supposed to but either way it's not a big deal. After the last ejection the trigger just goes "click" if I wasn't counting well enough and caught it on the last shot. At that point if I'm not loading another magazine right away I'll just manually pull it back and lock it in place. Not a biggy either way but I'm going to see why it's not locking.

Also the plastic mags drop free. Not with the same ease as a steel mag but they still drop free if that is your desire. If I was going to do this on a hard floor I'd glue rubber bumpers to the bases and the extra weight would help them drop even better.

I have one and I love it !

go for it, you won't regret

very easy to clean, great sight, work with all kind of ammo, all steel, good grip
full size pistol and full size magazine

good pistol with cheap ammo and a lot of fun !! ;)

The reason the empty mags don't drop free is because of the mag brake . It is a flat spring at the back of the magazine well. It is not advisable to remove it as it helps when inserting the mag. However , If you remove the brake, you can then bend it so it doesn't place as much tension on the mag.
