dealing with roadhunters

Yes you have, according to the Manitoba Wildlife Act. You cannot search for wildlife from a vehicle.

That's a funny law.
How else we gonna search for game, or look for game areas, where the big one was seen, or might be?
Manitoba is a lot of land and would not recommend it on horseback.

Great province though, you dont need to case you're firearm after dark. No point passing laws the fish cops cant enforce...;)

Alberta’s laws seem to be more reasonable.

It is unlawful to
9. discharge a firearm from or cause a projectile along or across:
a) provincial highway,
b) a road that is paved, oiled, graded or regularly maintained, unless
- the road is held under active disposition under the Public Lands Act or under any active disposition under the Surface Rights Act, or
-the person is hunting game birds with a shotgun under the authority of a license.

NO SHOOTING FROM ROAD OR ACROSS ROAD AND BIRD HUNTING IS ALLOWED IN DITCHES.

The only place in the act that mentions distance from a vehicle when taking a shot is in respect to antelope. The Criminal Code covers loaded firearms and shooting from and on etc. It is quite specific. This does not mean that Alberta encourages spot and chase hunting. There is very specific legislation that deals with occupied lands and permission is always required before entering or crossing privately owned land as well as Public land under agricultural or grazing lease (from leaseholder)
Alberta law does not condone or oppose use of vehicles, but many restrictions apply. I am proud to say that Alberta does not discriminate against all hunters who choose to use a vehicle.

About three years ago after slugging my way over about 3 miles of deep river coulees I came across two hunters in a 4X4 on the point of a coulee that I had worked hard to get to. Two real old guys! Still I was going to give them a bit of ethics talk. I was stopped short when I noticed that the passenger has both leg amputated above the knees. Stumpie as I will call him told me that with the help of his old friend has not missed a deer season in over 20 years. Later that day in another coulee I heard a shot and I saw this same vehicle on a trail in the bottom of the coulee. A few minutes later I saw Stumpie’s partner
drag a deer to the 4X4. It crossed my mind that I should give them a hand, but these two old farts had proven they were hunters, and I knew they could handle it.:D

Things are a bit different in Manitoba. We can shoot animals that are swimming for instance. Also, if all movement to the boat caused by the motor has ceased, you can shoot out of it

Oh, so it's just cars and trucks you can't use to "SEARCH" for game. A motorized boat is ok.

I see.

Perfectly clear.

"vehicle" means a motor vehicle, trailer, tractor, power boat, aircraft or any other vehicle drawn, propelled or driven by any means other than human power

......(b) an offence under section 22 or under the regulations, if the accused has discharged a firearm from a vehicle while hunting a big game animal, other than from a power boat while the motor was not in use and any progress as a result of the motor having been in use had ceased;

You said you couldn't "hunt" from a vehicle. Then you said you could "hunt" from a boat. In your last post you said a boat is a vehicle.

Like I said,:onCrack:

but according to you, you can not search from a vehicle (power boat) so why would one be allowed to shoot game after the boat has ceased progress?
Sounds like some tards have written the Manitoba Game Laws? Getting out of vehicle and shooting is not O.K. but shooting without getting out of another vehicle is O.K.Not allowed to shoot from solid ground, but O.K. to do it from a rocking boat:confused:

You mean the laws don't make sense??? Call the press!! This will be a headline!!

but if you don't case them after dark and they are still uncased at daylight the next morning and you accidently see some game off the road and you slow down a bit, you could get charged with hunting from a vehicle, especially if you can not tell the fish cop where you are going to hunt! Now I understand:confused::D and the fish cop dude will not accept the idea that a blaze orange fudd hat is a fashion statement:D

well i came home from driveing down back roads , wanted to see if there where deer out still with antlers , seen one nice buck in the light , i was so close to geting me some deer with my .32 , but you know . it was to cold out lol.

i tryed a bike for one year, did not work that good , sand on the road was to deep lol and trying to fire the gun off the bike when you have 30lb's of geer on you is not fun

And if you did just that here, the sensible sportsman from Saskatchewan who came to Manitoba would be leaving the province without his firearms and a court date to come back and appear before a judge. Once again, in case you didn't fully read the posts, this occured in MANITOBA NOT SASKATCHEWAN.:slap:

Time to get rid of your socialist goverment like we did in Sask.you have way to many stupid laws which is a trait of liberal socialist regimes.

Your socialist government was the 1st to balance the budget. Let us see the Saskoid party do so. Would you have rather kept the Devine government in power? NDPers hunt. Get real. Are you referring to laws like in Texas that ban oral ###? lol The Moral Majority loves laws. Why have laws against same ### marriage? lol
