Hi guys, I'm looking into getting my brother a .22 magnum for his birthday, it's still some months ahead, but I like to know what I'm getting so I can surf for sales up to the day.

Can you help?

P.S. I'm a student, my affordable is your cheap.

Thanks for your time,
Bobby.

I'm in the same boat as you and I've been looking at the plain-jane Savage models. They run less than $250 on Wholesale and SIr/Cabelas websites. I'm been impressed by the accutrigger on my Dad's .17HMR as well as the fact that mags are affordable and easy to find.

Failing that, there is always the hope of something used to come around

Why .22 magnum Bobby?
I assume you need it over a .22 lr for some reason or other to justify the higher cost of ammo. Me personally I'd go for the .17 HMR if a little more umph was needed. I've had good luck with the Marlin's.

stick with the .22 mag , the .17hmr sucks! , the .22 mag has a lot more power for killing s**t.

sure most ppl get a .22 mag for poaching, :p and #### like that

i like the marlin 925 , you can get them from $200-249 new

Well there you go. How can you argue with logic like that.

Those subcaliber rounds are interesting, but I've looked at the ballistics and I think I'll stick with the .22WMR. It's more efficient, and more traditional.

Thanks though.

Just ordered myself one of these from Wholesale :D

savage bolt

I hunt gopher with my left handed bolt action wmr savage with a 3x97 bushnell. Reliable. easy to clean nice trigger. Cheap 450 entire package out the door with one box of ammo (50)
I have a 17 hmr and I hate it. No good in a breeze and a ##### to clean!

Love my Marlin 25MN. Easy enough to clean and take apart so even a dumbass like me can do it! Definitely need a scope though so factor that price in too.

I'm at a loss for words......

I had a Savage 93 stainless .22WMR and it was great. This was pre-accutrigger but somehow I survived without it. It was my truck gun, it lived behind my seat, bounced around and still managed to maintain minute of gopher even with that old fashioned dinsosaur trigger. :p

I bought one of the new Marlin's a couple years ago and it wouldn't fire. When I contacted them they told me they were having issues with the firing pin springs and wern't addressing it at the factory and they needed to be sent in for repairs. I bought a new spring from WGP but it never shot right. Look into that before you buy one of them.
