Never saw a 5" one either and I'm already old and gray. I'll check other sources re the tapered barrel issue & post. If I were to do a chop job it would have to be perfect or not worth the bother.
 
The question of barrelling and cutting barrels for guns like this Python are going to start coming up more often. There are still a lot of prohib Pythons out there and rebarrelling them to a 105mm+ length is the only way to keep them "alive". (The other way is to remove the barrel and leave the gun as a frame only.)

Extra, longer barrels for Pythons are going to be in demand in the future. I would like a 105mm+ Python so my kids can take it to the range.
