If I thought I could get a Kimber in 257Roberts that was a good shooter, I might buy one and sell the one I have, but I'm not very motivated given their track record. I just wanted to know how much they were here in Canada.

Bashaw sports (google them for website) deals quite a few kimbers. I've never seen a .257 bob advertised in canada..... yet. Chances of a used one is slim right now.

Not sure what you guys are whining about kimbers, I've got several of them and no complaints. The kimbers fit me good and the triggers adjust quite well. They are lightwieght, good looking, as well as plenty good enough accuracy for a hunting rifle. A new sako 85 300wsm at $1800, or a kimber 8400 for $1200? I'd pick the kimber, oh wait.... I did :D
 
I dont know SuperCub. I think you should get a Kimber 84M in .257 Bob...and let me know how it shoots so I can buy one in .308 :D. Can't ##### with a 5 1/2 pund gun...

There lies the rub. His might shoot dimes, but the next one is a 2" rifle...They apparently have consistency issues in their manufacturing processes. A lot of their issues are solved with a new barrel.

He's not buying a wsm. And you can get them for $1500 anyway. I'm glad you have done well with your Kimbers, but there are a lot of guys that haven't made out as well as you.

Ask brotherjack...IIRC, he had to have his Montana headspaced properly, among other things, by Ralph Martini. You shouldn't have to do that with a $1200 rifle.
 
Really wanted to buy an 84M in .308 but read so many bad reviews I went with a Rem. LTR instead. Still dig the Kimber though, but I'd be pissed to end up with a total lemon. What a drag....

Go ahead and get it, you deserve it, I'll bet you love it! :stirthepot2: If I didn't already have a .257 bob and a .257ai, I would order a kimber and make it into the ai. Of course mine would have to be the select grade in french walnut oh..................:jerkit: on second thought, maybe i'll do it anyway! :onCrack: No wonder I can't build up my Africa fund!:(

That being said yes, you should NEVER sell a gun without atleast buying another one to replace it! :D

Trust me mine is already getting bad seeings how Im only 20 and have 6 centrefires and have traded hands with countless others. And half of those were purchased and traded while I was layed off! Once work picks back up in a week or so...I might need a bigger safe...and an RPAL...but then that'll just open up a whole new can of worms :eek:.
 
You throw the dice when you buy a Kimber. Got a 7-08 84M that so far will only shoot 120 gr pills into anything resembling a group even after rebedding and re pillering, re-crowning, etc, over 500 rounds later it's some better but still working on it. Apparently that wasn't enough frustration, I just had to go out buy another beautifully figured walnut 8400 in .270 win. Looking with the borescope looks like 10 miles of bad road as opposed to it's handicapped safemate in 7-08 whose barrel only looks like 5 miles of bad road. So I figured I got another toad from Kimber, shrugged my shoulders, took it apart and relieved where the forend was touching the barrel and adjusted the trigger down to 2lbs., mounted a 4x16 bushnell 4200, quickly loaded up 3 different weight hornady bullets 130, 140 and 150 gr. all loaded with 58 grs of h4831sc, headed to the range not expecting much, anyway after a quick eyeball bore sight and three shots, cleaning between each, got it where I wanted on paper. I then fired 3 6 shot groups of each bullet weight without cleaning. Each 6 shot group was under 3/4 inch, all bullet weights had the same point of impact. It looks like it might could be a good one, I left the range feeling somewhat relieved.

I like everything about the kimbers, I just wish their performance wasn't such a crap shoot. They are a sweet rifle when they perform like they are supposed to and a bargain for the price. When you get a bad one the price is way too much.
