A Nice Reno: Surprise

Well what can I say, a friend of mine renovated his house and in opening the walls up he finds a little wooden case, and finds a nickle plated bird head smooth grip 7 shot single action revolver with all the characteristics of an old Deringer, its chambered in .22 short, and the top strap says (Victor No.1 PAT. May 23,1876). either than what Ive described the pistol is in remarkable condition, there is no serial number, just wondering if anyone can tell me anything about the actual make and where its from, or even how old the gun is and or where it may have originated. (Ive looked up the name and make and cant find anything, any help is appreciated)

May want to rethink about posting this here - being 22 Short it won't be considered antique. It's either restricted or, by the sounds of it, prohibited.
 
Thats what I figured, not sure what he did with it or wheither he still has it, I was told by a licenced verifier that even plugging the barrel and deactivating it would be the best thing to do.
Just curious, its not every day u see something like that anymore.
 
The Victor was made by harrington and richardson in around 1876, it was a single action, spur trigger gun, made in .22 short. .32 short RF, and possibly .32 S&W, latest value I have seen is $200. I'd keep it, enjoy it, and shoot it, to hell with 'em!
 
I did that to a house near Barrie and found a Balls .50 repeater rimfire...I sold it in the US for about $12,000

Easy to say , but a mandatory 3 yrs?? for a unreg prohib is hard are your life!
 
Why would you not be able to register it? Would they just put a serial number on it?

If that wont work then seeing as you cant enjoy it put it back in the wall for some one else to discover down the road.
 
This was found behind the bedroom door in an old house we bought from an estate - if it had been a prohib, you guys would never have heard about it ;)

it's b/c the rolls of prohibs are CLOSED- if it's not on the lists as a prohib, you CAN'T get it put on- that only leaves dewatting and destruction-you can get a prohib re-registered by going to a longer barrel and getting it verified, but other than that the rules apply- no matter what gun it is or how old it is, unless it's proscribed as an ANTIQUE-
