Question about C7 malfunction

Blanks are the worst thing you can fire through an AR. They're absolutey filthy. Basically, the muzzle gets plugged with a blank firing attachment to build up enough pressure to cycle the action, which fills the rifle up with carbon at an incredable rate. Live rounds won't do this...and they look like militia wogs, so they more than likey have their rifles over lubed worsening the conditions. The BFA allows doesn't plug the barrel solid, it still allow gas through, i should add.

Everyone I've talked to agree that there are better tools for the job, ranging from the firearm itself, to the 5.56mm Nato round.

How embarassing to be doing drill and smack the handguard right off your rifle. (New handguards I might add)

I know it strikes a nerve with many, especially those who buy AR's because they look all tacticool and you can put 500 pounds of tacky accessories on them, but I'm only speaking from my experience.

This is all to say that I don't want one for the tacticoolness however again, much better tools for the job.

OK. If you do a search on CGN, you will find my bi annual....the C7/C8 is a fine rifle and it is doing exactly what we want it to do. I have spent over 4 years of my life with a loaded one with me on operations. The weapon is good to go. The rifle is not prone to failure, nor does it have problems like you noted. The weapons system we are using are the right balance. We don't need every man being a sniper....which seems to be the gun board flavour for the discussion. The systems work, they are battle proven despite the internet dispute. Coupled with the C6, C9 and our night fighting kit, we have an outstanding system. The 5.56 is killing lots of bad guys despite the internet lore against it. CQB is the name of the game....close fast shooting in build up areas. When the targets are at longer ranges, we have a whole bunch of weapons to deal with them.

We could replace rifles every week with the latest and the greatest guns and ammo specials....but the kit is doing the job....and doing it well...

Dude, we are not trying to push your opinion out.
Its just that falling handguards on parade and problem with blanks is not proof that the whole system is crap.

You also mention that a range outing would require multiple throughout clean. That is simply user error/nco bad call. There is a problem here...Either you were give a caked in gun (no proper cleaning by the previous guy) or someone was over zealous on the cleaning (which can also be problematic).

I have witnessed on several occasion, m16 platforrm with 6000 + rounds throught the spout with NO cleaning (oiling yes)

There has been lots of 7.62 vs 556 thread, bring back the Fn.. etc etc...

final note of this battered subject is that 556 works fine for its job and the C7 is doing what it is supposed to do.

C7 malfunction? more like soldier malfunction! 95% of all C7 problems are due to the person behind the weapon.

Its actually the mag that was the problem...I've seen this happen a few times...I think that the spring is so old and gunged up that it cant handle 30rds and they start going all cockeyed...

At the end of the video he tries the same mag in a different rifle with the same results.
