What would be your ideal rabbit gun, a semi, bolt or lever or others?
I've been looking at the Henry lever .22 for awhile but I've also seen a few 10-22's on the EE.
I currently shoot two Lakefields a MK1 & MK2.
What's yours?
 
Surely you mean wabbit wifle?

I have a Browning lever action and a Remington semi.Also an old Cooey bolt,an Anschutz single shot and a Winchester Model 67.Cheap,effective and shoot all day.Take my pick.

definitely one of these...Mossberg 151M (2) ,Mossberg 152Kor Cooey 64, 64A, Lakefield 64B or Sears 8C...and as backup...Lakefields Mark I, Mark II or Mark III and last but not least the Marlin 81

and if all fail...the old Enfield .410....
 
Depends, are we talking about murdering bunnies in fairly open terrain, from a distance, or are we talking about ambushing them in close terrain, where shots may be taken on moving targets?

For sitting targets, this:

A heavy-barreled Norinco copy of a BRNO, with a custom match chamber and a 4-16x scope.

A Cooey 64b, in a home-made folder, with a dot-sight and an AR15 flash eliminator. Of course, any hunting is done without the light.

Edited to add: Yes, her finger is on the triggers. I was photographing dry-fire practice.

I have used the 10/22, Browning Semi auto, Browning Lever, Win 9422 and a cooey semi auto. But my father swears by (and i mostly agree) his Savage Mod 24 compact (or camper) 18.5" bbls, 22 over 20 Gauge. 22 for sitting bunnies and 20 for the runners and the birds.

If I can ever find a 24c at a good price I will buy it... or just wait for the old fella to croak, I hope that isn't for at least 20-30 years though.

I would also like decent 17hmr, you can snipe em at longer ranges.
 
I use my 10/22 with a few of the basic modifications, just have basic tasco glass on top. Unfortunately, haven't got anything yet :(

The way I always hunted rabbits was by jumping brush piles and shooting them when they run out, making a rifle of any kind relatively useless, unless your a lot better shot than i am. I've always use a 12 guage with #6 for rabbits. The suggestion for the O/U .22/20g would be an excellent all around rabbit gun.....

That is until I saw the price on them...If it has to be a rifle, then I'd definately go semi auto .22, but again, I would take a shotgun over any rifle if rabbits were the game.
 
The o/u combo was one of the guns that my Dad always mentioned saying that it would be the ideal small game getter. But I have to agree the price is a bit much unless you get a good deal on a used one.
I'm still for the lever, but the Stevens Favourite is interesting too.
 
lever gun with an exposed hammer. Go with a peep sight or very low power optic and you'll have an awesome bunny buster with the accuracy to take some longer shots.

Personally I would never use a 12 for bunnies, just my opinion, but way too much gun. When hunting bunnies of the running variety, I use my Citori 20 G with #5 shot, but if 5s are not available, I'll use #4 or #6 depending on whether or not I can shoot grouse as well.

Sometimes I use my single shot 410 just for the challenge. I have ocasionally taken bunnies with a 12 when returning from a duck hunt or something, but definitely not my go to gun.

I find to keep the pellet count low in the bunny meat, #4 with a mod choke works best for me. Also with 4s you can shoot through some fairly heavy bush.
