I was talking about the SS .260 Rem's and .338 Fed's for $1299, and they're only 6 3/8 lbs...;)
 
Thats what I figured Martin. i was thinking every aspect of Sakos manufacturing process has more "TLC" put into it. Theres no workers that are mating the stock to the barrel and saying "Ah thats close enough", you know what I mean? This sounds crazy to the guys that say "All factory barrels shoot JUST as accurate as the others" (you know who you are :p. But from my understanding manufacturing, assembly and quality control all seem to be much better than AccuBarreled Remchesters. This is basing my opinions solely on LOOKING Sakos over nto firing them, I havent had that chance yet. When I look a Sako over theres no sloppy tang to stock fit and the stock gap between the barrel isnt 1/8" on one side and 1/4" on the other...
 
I use a stainless/walnut Sako85 in 300 win. I think a Bavarian with stainless barrel in 375H&H would be awesome! ...Real Moose medicine!

Bullet drop will likely be the same or within an inch of the .308, if you use anything from a 180gr to a 215gr...

I know I'll love the Sako..well except for the synthetic stock but I geuss its not like Remingtons and Savages POS synthetics its a little fancier being all rubbery and whatnot.

But the cartridge talk about no class :eek:. But I suppose we're all just whores who will gladly sell them selves (or there .30 cal morals) out to save a few bucks!

It does comfort me to know the .338 is equal to or better than its birthgiver in every aspect though:cool:. Cant wait to see the looks on all my Fudd relatives faces:D. "What? A .338!?! Your gonna kill your shoulder with that thing!" "No uncle its the new .338 federal its the same as a .30..." **interupts me** "Oh well Id take the .30-06 over the .308 any day...get a little more punch..ramble...ramble...wheres my chicken soup...ramble"
 
Nice part about the Sako, is the magazine is over 2.9", so you can load longer bullets without having to seat into your powder space. I think Bartell has loaded 250gr Hornady's(?) without losing powder capacity. He's got lots of data I'm sure he'd share with ya, beating all published factory data...

Talley one piece lightweights and something with at least a 40mm objective I'd say, considering moose can be critters of low light. How about a Nikon Monarch Gold 1.5-6x42. Lightweight gun deserves lightweight optics and mounts.

No Talley LW for a Sako...

Get some warne or leupold rings or opti-locks, and a VXII 2-7x33 with the LR reticle.

It would actually be worth checking with Talley as they are offering some Sako lightweights now even though they aren't listed on the website.
 
Im definitly gonna have to look into Talleys seeings how the optilocks are 150-200ish :eek:. The scope is already picked out just a run of the mill Elite 3200 3-9x40. Depending on how well it works it may get swapped out for a VXII or wait for the rumoured "VX3".


EDIT- I just emailed the boys at Talley about some mounts. Just waitin to see what they say.

Well Talley-ho emailed me back boys...

As far as mounts for the Sako’s, the only thing that we offer is for our steel ring and base setup. For the 85 we don’t have anything quite yet as this action is slightly different from the 75. You’re probably looking 6-8 wks out before we have them in stock.
