.22 mag #12 shot

Barn pigeons, mice, rats. Possibly snakes?
Supposed to be used in a smooth bore gun.

I never used any as I figured anything it can do, a .410 can do a billion times better.

"...Will they put holes into metal barn roofs?..." If you're extremely close. They're made for snakes and rats. Shot fired out of a rifled barrel flies in a spiral and leaves big holes in the pattern. They're a waste of money.

Remington Model 572 BDL Smooth Bore

Or hog out the last 6" of a old cooey single with a drill bit...

some of the older .22 smoothies even had some form of choke if i recall...
do a search for "garden gun" if you want to know more.

Arrrg, I just found a .22 Smooth bore for sale last night and now I can find the link.
Only .22 though not .22Magnum.

i tryed them in the 22 cal and i would have had better luck throwing a hand full of sand .i thought thy might work for shooting sh t hawks of the wires around the barn went thru a whole box with no dead birds

They are often used to collect small birds that will be stuffed for displays. The small shot and low penetrating power allows the target to be collected without too much damage. The birds are then mounted as specimen examples. The Royal Ontario Museum has a bunch of birds that were collected by this very manner.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT shoot your friend in the ass with one of these shells using the home made zip gun you both made when you were 14 years old. I thought it was funny but his mom was pissed at me for months. Turns out that the shot had no effect from 20 feet but the small wad pushing the shot left quite a welt on his ass.
