Question on the use of antique handguns:

Are you a member of the BCWF?
If you are, you might want to write a letter to them asking if anyhting has come of the resolution to allow handguns for hunting.
Your situation could be a real winner-
I collect antique handguns, I can carry in the bush and shoot, but I am not allowed to kill a grouse or rabbit with them...Yadda yadda
Resolutions liek that tend to dry up, since there is no forward motion. Most peopel incorrectly thought "well, the feds won't let us carry, so no point in wasting energy on that"
Too bad, cause I'd consider buying an antique if I could shoot grouse or yotes with it.

when i got pullled over befor, by 5 cop cars... they thought i had ( "assault rifles" with me and being in a city park with them test fireing them.... full auto...at night ) well they stop me , And pointed there guns at me , told me to put my hands up, put my hand out of the window, and open the door from the out side. but i had my seat belt on , i had to take it off witch pissed them off my hand had to go down to do this . after we got out they locked us up to a no parking pole for 20 min well they seached the car, then they seen they where paint ball guns we had in a locked case . also they seached the car and found 20 knives , 1 .32rimfire pistol.in a little locked case .under the back seat and they did not know what antique was.. so after being there for 1 hrs .they let us go . gave back all the stuff. man that was a fun night .
i got pulled over like 3 times for haveing paint ball guns . the last time they told me i cannot take them to the park no more.. (all 3 times i talked to the same cop)
but trust me it helps a lot to have a print out of the antique gun laws with you... saved me going to jail for the night
and i talked to them on the laws and they told me it was the same laws for haveing a bbgun. witch you cannot have in the city (well cannot fire it)

i used to have a Traping Licence to but dont trap anymore.
You cant hunt with a Handgun as far as i know.
Calling CFC asking them about Carrying guns is a waste of time.
They wont answer Questions like that.
CFOs Just told me Carry the Regs its all in the Regs and there 100% right.
I try and tell people that its in the Regs but because its a little hard to find and figger out they just Give up.
People are just Lazy by nature i guess.
Im very Lazy myself.

And Also About the Antique Revolver in a Case!.... Once your in and Area walking that a Antique or Non restricted gun can be legally fired its no longer in transport its in USE!
Its hard to USE it locked in a fricken case eh.

Like I already said the problem is not the laws on antiques it's if you "break" any other laws and/or get a missinformed l.e.o.

Troble maby but he hasnt been breaking any laws that i see.
We can all run into Troble now and then sounds like the Troble was to me that the Cop that pulled him over 3 times has a Problem.
As long as everyone is responsible with there Antique Firearms thats the thing to keep in mind with Threads like this eh.

Your correct playing rambo in the park is not breaking the law.neither is wearing my 870 on a sling down town (vancouver) it's just shows poor judgement.If you dont learn the first time....................................

the cop that pulled me over 3 time , is cool he remebers me from when i was under 18 , and gave him some nice hi speed chases lol (on a dirtbike, down city streets)
befor i was 18 , i had the cops at my door maybe 1-2 times a week! (selling knives, homemade spud guns. pen gun ,driveing dirtbikes,atvs,motorcycle,go-karts. in the city.
now that i am over 18 , i got a job so i dont need to do #### like that no more lol no time ..
um , i had my 870 under my jacket on the bus befor if that counts, (my truck broke down and i was not going to keep it in there down town over night) had a triger lock on it still and was in a thin soft case *my jacket was off me and covering the gun*
i dont know how legal that was , but it was triger locked and in a case
and the first 2 times the cops told me it was fine , then they told me not no more,seeing the ppl that lived by where i parked my truck did not like me and did not like me wakeing them up at 2:00am with my truck (wide open exhaust)

OK well keep in Mind that the Stuff you Do Now as and Adult with your Antiques could Effect ALOT of people.
Sounds like your Local Cops know you Pretty good and know you have a PAL and are OK with that.
But just keep in mind that theres Lots of other Antique Collectors and Users that like the regs the way they are eh .
So be carefull out there so we dont get any added restrictions to the present regulations!!!!The Frist Question by Jethunter asked about the Regs to do with Antiques.

Reseaarh the case in Vancouver where a young man wrapped his 22 in a jacket and went on the bus. In the End he was Convicted on a concealed weapons charge (many other charges dropped)
Supreme Court Judges found that a Gun case is not concealed but a jacket is.
There are things a person can do that are within the law, but it is just plain unwise to try them. I would included on a list of things not to do, getting on a Vancouver bus carrying a gun case, unless it is a hard case that leaves people unsure of what is in the case (have a 'Fragile: Pool cue samples' sticker on the case. If everyone on the bus knows you got a gun, some weak-kneed gunaphobe will be on her cellphone and, like it or not, you will soon be experiencing a take-down and by the time you get it sorted out, you will be late for your next appointment.
Prudence, responsibility and maturity are always a good thing. In my opinion the best way to keep our right to keep and use antique arms is to keep them out of sight and out of mind. Why push things just to see what you can get away with? It would be "legal" to perambulate around downtown Vancouver with one of the really authentic looking air pistols on your belt, but could easily get you shot dead by a jumpy LEO.
