m 14 stock liner question..or maybe a quandry??

K so I bought a brand new in the oil m305/m14s in December...then got it home the end of december from a fellow member in here that stored it for me till the weather smartened up so I could get to the city and get it from him.

So I ripped it all apart and degreased it and was playing with all the metal and found out that the right hand cross bolt threads were not in line through the stock liner so there fore just bottomed out in the threads and this piece was not snug,to the stock.Now for pics....

This is the piece I am talking about...The left hand side is threaded through but the right hand side bottoms out and is not tight...no biggie me thinks just find the proper tap and take care of the problem...but in the mean time I search for a couple of more stocks cause I want one in original wood and want to paint one in a candy apple brandy wine color.

2 members of CGN offer me the same chu wood stocks at a good price so I took both of them...I just received one of them 3 days ago,take it apart and its the same damn thing...left side is tight and the right hand screw bottoms out!!! Am I missing something here???

if this stock liner is not tight all the way around and the trigger assm and action use it for a common resting point....how can it shoot accurately??

Seems to me lots of glass bedding might be in order to take the flex out of this soft wood stock and kinda get it back to being at least semi -rigid..

Any ideas or thoughts???
 
i just bought two laminates from DM....

with shipping, can taxes etc.

they'll be 200+ when they get to your door ....more if you just buy one
 
Burn the witch!! (that chu wood stock, I mean)

Keep all the metalwork for future projects! All that toxic oil on there is questionable. (read: yer #### WILL truly fall off) :D
 
If you find both stocks have the same problem, then you found a hole in the Chinese QA/QC. No big deal. Get out your tools.

There is no warranty service for Norincos in Canada. Which in theory you do get that with a Springfield Armory, but not in reality. Ha! Ha!

I'm sure if you contact Marstar they will do something for you. That said go with Hungry's advice and get a decient stock, there are many options.

Don't BURN it! Give it the DWX2 treatment and then spray it with "EZ Liner, Bedliner and Industrial Strength Coating" from Crappy Tire. You will be impressed with the results. Trust me!

The issue with the chu stock is that the wood is too soft, it compresses and degrades over time. The action gets sloppy in the stock and accuracy suffers, then you have a junk stock that you invested hours of time and energy in. IMHO of course.
 
The reason I am using the chu wood is because its cheap to play with. I love walnut but for a painting project in base clear I am NOT gonna wreck a piece of walnut...that would be against my religion.:cool:

I am currently soaking the oil out with TSP then will coat and seal the inside with fibreglass resin diluted down so that it soaks in real good and add some stiffness. Then I am thinking about adding a aluminun I beam in the fore stock to strenghten it up. Then glass bed it for support and work on the out side after. Its gonna be a one of a kind painted candy apple/brandy wine stock so dont mind playing with it to get it working / looking real good.

Besides if its slow at work I can take it there,work on it and get paid at the same time..:)

But we still have the problem with the threads in the liner...I didnt buy this from marstar..if I could just find out what thread,pitch etc etc and buy a tap and die for it life would be simple...
