Everybody relax... this gun is a working design (not just a mock-up) and they have been testing and shooting them for many months now... however, the gun is NOT expected to go into production until late 2009 and probably will not start shipping commercially until next years SHOT Show (Jan/Feb 2010).

They haven't finalized on pricing yet and LMT doesn't expect to start accepting dealer orders for them until late 2009.

It's way too early to guess whether Export permits will be available for civilian end-users... a lot can happen in the next 12 months...

I like how the barrel torque screws are spread further apart on the .308 mrp compared to their smaller mrp.

I suspect they will be coming out with .338 barrels too?

If this does make up for commercial sale in Canada, will it just be another range rifle because it is restricted? A cooler looking R15? Would be nice if this were non-restricted.

At least it is marked .308 and not 7.62. Seems like they know about the export restrictions for 7.62 marked weapons and that would at least leave them the option to ship north.
Did they use the DPMS style lower because of cheaper mags? If not, Why?

Cheaper mags... I just started to laugh and spit my coffee out. It doesn't matter what a mag cost in the US, $20 for DPMS or a $45 Armalite...They both go for $80 here.

Most popular selling rifle design. Cheaper to copy something then completely engineer another that may not be a hit.

Karl Lewis was nice enough to let me shoot two of his 7.62x51 MRP guns, he also let Trey Knight, and Dave Lutz shoot them (amongst several others as well). I fired 20 rounds of M118LR in one of our SR-25 mags thru one of them, and 5 rounds in another variant.

With the PMAG LR fitting his gun, I think a lot of people will like it.

I did however note he intended only to make a 18" version at this time.
