I had to kill some time at the drug store, waiting for my dam pills, and came a cross a Hunting Mag that I never heard of, well, I picked it up and look at the front cover and, hmmm Canadain, ok, and wow, the cover stories where about the same things I was thinking about and reading about on here, bits and peices. But, in general I was very impressed. I love the section on people who have got finned and for what, lol.

Has anyone else seen this? what are thoughts before I place my order.

Even though it was till rape at the check out, it was worth it.

I have read it many times, and as much as I like the Canadian content, there is not a whole lot of useful information. It lacks consistency, too many issues are poor reads.

I buy issues if they look good, but I would never subscribe.

It's one that I generally buy when it comes out. Like riden mentioned, some issues are better than others, but I find most magazines to be like that.

If you join the National Firearms Association for $30 a year, you will receive a subscription to the Western Sportsman magazine and the Canadian Firearms Journal.

Considering a subscription to the Western Sportsman magazine is $25 a year on its own, membership in the NFA is cheap.

You get your magazines and support an organization that supports you. :canadaFlag:

Western Sportsman sucks donkey balls!!:D

When I was a kid it used to be my favourite magazine. Writers like Art Froese, Wayne Norstrom, Jeff Lickiss on guns, Cam somethingorother and a couple others.

Now it's the same old rehashed crap.
How to shoot a deer. How to call a coyote. How to set up your decoys.
Wow, how original.
A bunch of lame writers trying to be the next Jack O'Connor. Nice try!
Outdoor Canada is about the same.

The writers in the new Western Sportsman and Outdoor Canada make me want to dig up some old magazines with Clair Rees and Clay Harvey articles.:D

It's been around for about 40 years. Lots of good info in it! They recover it and add some eastern content and sell it nationally as Canadian Sportsmen as well.

Didn't it used to be the Saskatchewan Sportsman, or something like that, and come out four times a year, with Red Sorenson? as the editor?
If that's the one, there sure was a good historical article in the fall of 1975 issue!!

I don't think it sucks. But you are correct about some of the writers. " This is how I did it, so it's the right way. My guns the best because I use it" kind of writers

Like Pickles says, it sucks donkey balls. While Alberta Outdoorsman also sucks donkey balls of the same amount and size. Both mags are rigged towards beginners.
