Do the Dominion Arms short barrel doubles shoot to POA?

I am in Colombia so I can't anser this question. I will do a range report when I get back in Feb.

I used to live in Port Arthur and have fond memories of winter snowshoe hunting for rabbits and hares at -20C.

We used to do winter geophysics in around Kirkland Lake, Beardmore and Dryden where you'd spend the entire day walking lines in the bush at -40C. The cold doesn't stop real men ;)

So just ignore the cold and snow boys, strap on the Fabers, grab the SxS and have at her! :D

Fired my Outlaw for the first time today. It was rushed as I didn't have that much time. This is not an in-depth review, so forgive the lack of detail and pictures.

Rounds used were Winchester reduced recoil slug loads.

First two rounds were fired at 50 feet. POA was at the middle of a large 8" circle. The right barrel's POI was approximately 4" right and 8" high from the middle of the 8" circle. The left barrel's POI was about 3" left and 6" high from the middle of the circle.

I then stepped up to 30 feet. My POA was at the bottom of the 8" circle. The right barrel's POI was approximately 3" right and 4" high from the bottom of the 8" circle. The left barrel's POI was about 2" left and 3" high from the bottom of the circle. I shot a few more rounds at 30 feet and groups remained consistent. All rounds fired at 30 feet grouped within a couple inches from each other from each respective barrel.

Recoil is stout... not as bad as I was expecting though. The recoil pad does a good job absorbing some of the recoil. I did not touch off both barrels at the same time. muzzle flash is considerable! :D

The Outlaw is a quick handling shotgun. picking out the rounds is a bit of a pain, but it is a $300 shotgun, so I can deal with this little annoyance. spent hulls came out with a flick of the finger. I noticed a little stickiness breaking the action open. I hope that it's just a matter of break in to smooth it out.

It should be interesting when I fire shot rounds out of it.

Hope this helps.

:D

Thanks for being a true CGN and going to the range when it was -20C in Calgary!

Perhaps by carefully honing/polishing the breach and angling the Outlaw backwards when you open the action you can get the extractors to clear the hulls. I've seen some cowboy action shooters do that with their coach guns.

Have any owners checked this out?

If yes, how well regulated are the 2 barrels?

I just ordered one so I hope they do
lt's to much to expect that the makers of a $300 shotgun would regulate them. I've seen shotguns costing ten times that much not put shot patterns into the same place, much less slugs.

It's a $300 dollar Chinese import. They've spared every expense building this gun. Be happy if it goes bang and shoots both barrels in the same direction.

I agree that any manufacturer who produces a SxS shotgun at this price will not be able to afford to regulate their barrels.

The purpose of this thread is to determine how these shotguns perform at the ranges for which they were designed.

Testing with buckshot will also be interesting.

If we assume a buckshot spread rate of 1.5"/yard at 7 yards the pattern will be 10-12" in diameter. This may mitigate somewhat the regulation issue when these short barreled coach guns are used at their design ranges - say 5 to 7 yards.

Canada Post web site says mine is "Item out for delivery".

geologist,

If you post some pictures of young Colombian translators, I promise to post 00 Buck patterns for ya as exchange!

Here you go, looking for gold is a dirty job but someone has to do it

Too be fair to the Outlaw, I don't intend to shoot this shotgun beyond 30 feet. I just wanted to see how it would shoot at the furthest distance I would realistically shoot it. I'm sure a shot pattern will look a lot better on paper... didn't have any on hand.

I will have to look at the extractor closer to see if a little TLC will improve it's function.

I'm beginning to suspect you're pilfering whichever university is most local to your site. I can see it now "Hi, I'm offering english lessons and a camping trip in the jungle - only $25! Great work experience;)".

I'm also interested to see how the outlaws perform. Seems only a few people have taken them out, and none of them have done an in depth report...

Geologist, you're my hero. When I have kids, I want them to grow up to be gun nutz that travel the world with a harem of hotties just like you.

It is too late for me, but are youth are the future! :)
