Don't be put off by Russian capture K98's. Great value, great history. If you just want a K98 to play with, it's as good as it gets. Too bad you can't pick 'em up at SIR for $299 any more.

I have a redone Mauser that was put together by Granite I believe. There are great Mauser rifles to be had out in Canada for very reasonable prices. I paid $375 and it's basically brand new and gorgeous. All original Nazi parts, just from different rifles. If you can get over your own ego, it will impress the s**t out of your friends and eventually you'll fall in love with how pretty these rifles really are when they are shiny.

x2 on Jean from P&S Militaria in Sherbrooke Quebec. That's where my RC came from. I'm still looking for an M43 cap to redo this photo properly :)

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't have to pull the rifle off their shoulder, down to hip level, in order to operate the bolt and squeeze off a followup-shot. Just move your cheek a bit off the stock if you're worried about getting the bolt in the eye-socket, and then you don't need to re-aquire the target every bloody time.

Yessir. In my defense, this was about the 4th time I had ever gone shooting...it's a while ago. I've improved as we all have in the past 2 years.
