Blackpower in modern replica?

I am considering the purchase of a single action revolver, like a 1873 SAA or similar in a modern reproduction.

My question is this; I know that they are built to use modern smokeless ctgs (45 colt or 44-40) but could I handload and use blackpower in its place. I am a nostalgia buff and thing that the authentic loads would be way cooler.

There is no problem at all to use black powder in modern SAA.

No problem using black remember no space between powder and the base of the bullet no loose charge. and use a lube that is for black .

Further to my first question, whenabouts was the changeover from blackpowder to smokeless. What I am attempting to achieve here is authenticity, just like back in the days of the old West...

The change over was pretty gradual. I think from the 1880s till after WWI for commercial ammo.

The only problem you may have is with your sights, my .45 shoots very low with Black powder reloads, also make sure you use soft cast bullets with Black powder lube in the grooves.
