Exemptions Gone

Besides what Craig said, I'm not going to post every email and every document and transcripts of every conversation here on canadiangunnutz. I don't have the time - hell - a retired guy doesn't have time. Nor do I want them here to be second guessed by every Monday morning quarterback who hasn't even bothered to vote for thier IPSC reps, let alone be one.

Your section coordinators have been in the loop the entire time - it's them you should communicate with - they have also been part of the decision making process. I can sleep easily knowing I did my best for IPSC Canada. My offer of a phone conversation remains for those who still can't get this; but I'm done with this thread...it has jumped the shark...

The only regions in the IPSC World that had the box/bullet weight exemptions were Canada and the USA. All other 74 regions had to comply with the IPSC rules. When they gave us the exemptions we knew that there was a possibility that they would be revoked at some point. I am surprised that we have had them for this long.

The primary reason for not granting the exemptions is to make our regions comply with the rest of the IPSC World. I am also one of the people that will have to buy new magazines, so I am in the same boat as many others. In hindsight we probably never should have asked for the exemption in the first place. Then we would not have this problem now.

In closing: IPSC World wants all of the regions to operate with one rule book, no exemptions. If we want to play the IPSC game, then we all need to follow the same set of rules.

Just post the ruling for everyone to see. It just makes things more transparent. Why do we have to go through all these channels? Is it a top military secret? Half of the section coordinators have no clue why. ( I have asked a few) Can someone PM me with this info?

lf I join USPSA or one of the US shooters shoots here, do they have to use the 126 mags? How many will come here to shoot if they do? Will we not lose those shooters, granted that they do not make for significant numbers?

As for me, I am sitting on the fence on this. I have the equipment for Open, Standard, Production, Modified and Revolver but I find myself a little pissed off with this ruling and have yet to rejoin IPSC. I can't get a proper answer and I hate to be part of an organization that is becoming all cloak and dagger! I know that the intent is not there but the perception of it is.

This post is meant to offend! Please be offended by it!

"FYI...you haven't asked your SC " by Quigley.

My bad, you are right. I did not ask you I got confused, I asked my club reps.
Thanks for trying to be more transparent. I hope Sean says yes to the posting.
The check may be in the mail.

I can't beleive that there are people walking the fine line of accusing Sean of a hidden agenda.

Remember this is the same guy who has given his heart soul and business to supporting all of us in the sport.

Thanks Sean for all your work.

one of the problems is that people never bothered to read the exemptions or take note of the fact that it was only good rule book to rule book. Unfortunately this is quite normal for people. For those of us who have kept abreast of the rules and the exemptions, the reply from IPSC World, unfortunately, makes sense. doesn't make i any easier of a pill to swallow, it was just inevitable.

for those of you who think Sean's has a hidden agenda, then buy your mags from another vendor, there is SVI and SPS to name two.

Last comment remember there is a difference between a USPSA match and a US IPSC match. If you are shooting an USPSA match then you are shooting in their limited division and 140 plus/minus 2.5 mm is legal, however if you are shooting an US IPSC match then you will have to shoot in standard division and your firearm will have to fit into the box with the mag in.

In closing: IPSC World wants all of the regions to operate with one rule book, no exemptions. If we want to play the IPSC game, then we all need to follow the same set of rules.

Seems pretty straight forward to me. Can I "make ready now"? My trigger finger is itchy. :)

So, What kind of mag should i get for my Edge ?? I have 1 STI 10 rnd mag that is a piece of crap!. it is stamped 126-10-40 (.40cal) it is indented in on both sides so it is a singlestack internally and i have to fight to get the 10th round in and half the time it falls out of the magwell without an extra hard seating. I assume the answer is a 124-126mm hi-cap mag that is limited(pinned) to 10? what is the best kind to get for an STI Edge.....STI, SVI, Rescomp???? what do you think will be the answer? I am heading to LA next month and "Speed Shooters Int."(w ww.speedshooter.com) is only 20 min from my hotel, and would like to figure this out incase i want to pick up some while im down there. If they are readily available up here at a comparable price(i dont mind paying a bit more to shop canadian, but im not paying double). On their site it says SVI 126mm will "not fit in IPSC international box, but the 124mm SVI carry(duty)length will fit in IPSC box. I'M SO CONFUSED!..........What do i buy?

STI 126mm from Freedom Ventures with dawson international base pads, or if you have the means you can buy the doubletap sports pad and cut the angle yourself on a mill to save a few bucks.

Hello Everyone,

Just received the news from our RD: We have an extension on our exemptions, until June 30. As of July 1st we have to follow the IPSC rule book to the letter. So we have time now to adjust to the new rules.

praise Jesus!! Good work Sean and whoever else!!
I hope this helps some of you folks.....I am running the Limited custom with Henning "box legal" mag pads,..so I was not worried about me. I felt really bad for those it did effect and who would have to get new mags right away. I know how much those mags cost and tuning you sometimes need to do.

About a hundred to one...

generous estimate
the only ones that I know of are the World shoot team qualifier matches, they had 3 back in 2007, they'll have 3 this year or next year too pick the 2011 teams.
Could IPSC Canada start recognizing a Limited Division?
