M14 Mags

yes, but good luck finding any. I went straight to the source at AIA and they say that thier sole canadian dealer is marstar and will not sell direct.

we must bug marstar to order a bunch, last time i talked to AIA, they had over 50,000 units of the AIA mag, availlable to order.

From Marstar...

AIA M10 7.62x51mm 10 round magazine

Genuine Australian International Arms mfg. 10 round magazine designed for use in all AIA M10 B series rifles chambered for 7.62x51mm NATO. Competition grade hard chromed follower for enhanced smoothness and reliability. Will not fit in any other rifles.

Are they lying to us?

they probably legally have to say that :D

The 5 rounder has more use than the 20 unless you're doing Service Matches or IPSC were quick reloads are needed. I never use the 20 for hunting or anything else. If you make you're shots really count, the 5 rounder with stripper clips is all you'll really need.

5/20's are easier to insert, and can be inserted more quickly IMO. From a strategic point of view and not cosmetic is the reason that I would use 5/20's when out in the bush.

I had a few of those 5/30 round steel with plastic type follower..... i found them awkward as hell..... not an asset to my rig anyways. Luckily i had a buddy who thought they looked cool and he grabbed em off me.
incidentally..... i had em listed in the EE forever but no one grabbed em..... long gone now ;)

So you can get two different mags for the M14S', a 20 round pinned to 5 or a smaller 5 round mag.

Which ones do people prefer and why?

All the pictures of M14's people post have always used the larger mags. Granted I find the smaller mags are a little harder to manage but I like the looks of them (seems to give the M14 a more M1 look).

Also what is an average price to purchase a 5/20 mag from the EE here? I searched but couldn't find any.

5/20 all the way. Getting the 5/5's out of the gun is a PITA.

Just got into the M14 fun. If I would have seen / looked them...I would have bought them.

Arch:)

The 5 rounders are somewhat harder to get out, but if I had to go into a competition I'd probably use them because they'd interfere less with prone shooting. For all other situations though the 5/20 seems to be superior in ergonomics and look-cool factor. :D

The 5 rounders will come out relatively easy with a little work on the stock. You just have to find out what points it is binding in the stock and relieve those areas. In the Troy stock the 5 rounders pop out easily. In fact you have to be ready to catch them as they sometimes drop out when released.

I actually like the 5 rounders when hunting just because of the small size.
