help with buying a gun from the US

Hello,
I am a total newbie at buying and selling guns. I have bought a couple in Canada but none outside. I want to buy a FN PS90(or maybe an FS 2000). As far as I can tell, it is legal to own in Canada with a regular PAL license. I cannot find anyone in Canada to buy this gun from. So I figure I gotta go to the states.
The problem that I face, is that I hated stupid borders and all their rules. What do I need and how do I go about buying a gun from the states? When you answer this, please remember that I was in the slow class in school(actually I was haha), so explain it thoroughly. Also please tell me if you know of any place in Canada that sells guns like this. Thankyou
 
It costs a huge amount of money to go that way. You need to pay for the service of transferring across the border. If you try and buy the gun in the states and take it across the border yourself, you will find they will take your guns from you and say "thank you for shopping in the USA" and you will never see them again.

Basically, you are trying to get a gun that most police/government will raise eyebrows as too why you would need to own such a rifle (plus when its added to ban list they will take it away). If you want the easy alternative, get a Mini 14 from Ruger. same caliber, same ammo capacity, same accuracy... lower cost.... available at almost any Canadian retailer.

It's not that much... Really. And if you get the gun you want which isn't available from any Canadian source maybe it's worth it.

Well that's just dumb. You wouldn't do that anyway... No FFL will hand over the gun you bought. That's why you have to pay a bit extra... For them to take the gun across the border.
As long as you have your gun registered before it comes in all CBSA will want is to tax you...
The times I've done it they didn't even want to look at the gun(s)

I wouldn't waste my $$ on a PS90 though...

Hello: you can't purchase firearms from the states, because you are not a US citizen and you also don't have a US firearm license.:redface:so,which means you will need to fine yourself a distributor to place your order for you.
 
I really appretiate the help you guys are giving me. I know that the FN PS90 is a little gun and not very powerful. But I live in the ottawa valley where there is no long rang shooting. infact ALL the deer I have shot have been within 100yards before I could even see them. And if I am walking though the bush, I almost step on the bucks before they will move, but then they are gone in a flash. So it only makes seance to me to have a tactical rifle. Plus I really like the bull pup design and the look of the FN PS90. Is there any good alternative guns that are a bull pup and look half decent?

We all do, but we follow the rules to avoid jail.

Your two best options are Questar (pricey at, I believe, $750 to start, but great service and your gun magically arrives at your door) or the Buffalo Gun Center (here, you would drive to Buffalo, and the price is up to $250?). Having said that, the US needs to issue a permit for the guns to be exported, and they won't for the FS2000 or PS90, AFAIK.

Or you hang out in the exchange forum here, wait for one of the few Canadian instances to show up, and pay through the nose. Can't afford it? Try a mini 14.

But I don't think you can hunt deer with a .223 in Ontario - someone else will know.

You can buy as many guns as you want... You just can't "take possession"

Y'don't need a US firearms lic. either... whatever that is:rolleyes:
 
The PS90 and FS2000 are restricted due to the barrel length, so you can't hunt with them anyway. Go buy a lever action, in a more suitable calibre, with ghost ring sights and learn how to shoot it.
"...suspect its illegal to hunt deer with a .223..." As daft as it is, Ontario says any centre fire is ok for deer. The trick with a .223 is using the right bullet. Most factory ammo is loaded with varmint bullets. Varmint bullets are not suitable for deer.
"...have been within 100 yards..." That's normal for Ontario deer hunting. However, having a PS90(or any particular rifle) isn't going to make a lick of difference when still hunting. Very likely to be detrimental given the calibre. Even if the PS90 wasn't restricted, finding 5.7 x 28 ammo wouldn't be easy. Moreso in the Ottawa Valley.

You may want to consider a SKS as well. Semi-automatic and inside 100yards it's fine for deer.
Soft points only, of course.
 
Are you guys telling me that Bull pup designs are illegal in Canada??? I don't doubt that you know more about the rules than me. I just thought that it would be legal because it fits the criteria for a normal license. the barrel is legal length and the overall gun length is just over the legal minimum. So why would it be illegal?

Bullpup stocks that are not a part of the gun itself, are illegal.

A 10/22 with a bullpup stock would be illegal.
The Tavor's stock is a part of the gun itself, so it's legal.
It's confusing and is apart of the government hate on for 'evil' features.

Here's my 2 cents:

Why can't the CFC explain it as neatly as lone-wolf and why do they consider a bullpup stock to be evil and nasty?? I've given up trying to figure the CFC out - it's too hard on my head.
