Canadian Barrel makers

gaillard is the only one that has a website that I can find... otherwise I hear good things, but cant find anything about the others

mclennan, ron smith?

mick mcphee has a writeup on the adams lake rifle barrels site, but as I understand only makes 30 cal barrels.

my next barrel will be canadian for sure

McPhee makes some of the best barrels in the world, bar none. If non-Canadian barrels are that contemptable and you don't want a 30 I would recommend Ted Gaillard. His barrels are certainly accurate, but he only button-rifles, he doesn't cut.

Mick McPhee only makes true custom barrels and he is highly selective about the types of firearms he builds, concentrating on precision match rifles and he only sells barrels if he does the installation to ensure that they are installed properly. Mick is a complete and total perfectionist....Perfectionists like that are rare, and a real pleasure to meet. He'll also give you the straight goods on which Canadian barrels he likes, and which American barrels he has found to be "lacking" in quality control... very interesting indeed.

I really like Ron Smith's barrels and always have. First one I used was in 1978 and it was great. I've not been disappointed since. The late John Howard used Ron's barrels and his rifle shot extremely well; as did John!
The BEST SHOOTING Canadian barrel I ever installed was one of Rob MacClennans back in the early '80's. The fact that this was on a short range BR rifle in 6PPC would account for a lot of the performance but this barrel shot as well as any barrel I had used up 'til then. I never used one of his barrels for any other rifle type.
TED Gaillard's barrels are a quality barrel which also perform quite well. Many Canadian BR shooters have enjoyed success with these.
I have not used on of Mick McPhee's barrels yet but have looked at a few and I think they are as good as anything out there. It doesn't matter that he makes only 30 caliber. 30 calibers work just fine and the fact that using a thirty allows you to use one of these barrels might be a good reason to use a thirty! Regards, Bill

I've got a Gaillard on my 25-06 and an RKS on my 300 WM. I also have a Bevan King barrel but it's just oiled up and sitting in a tube in my gun room...waiting.

Rob M barrel

I am just waiting delivery of a Rob M 22/250 barrel installed on a Savage action.
His number is 705 5262159.
Not able to shoot probably until March. Will give results.

There is some confusion here in regards to the new outfit in Newfoundland making barrels, the barrels they are making are made of oak and are for long term storage of whiskey.

This subject comes up often enough that it should probably be stickied.

I have had a Gaillard barrel and it comes in at #2 of the most accurate rifles I've owned. My .375 Smith barrel shoots like a varmint rifle, and I'd get another without hesitation.

I haven't had a bad time on George St. No complaints here.
