Ok I am starting a cool new thread on "HOW AMMO USED TO BE PACKED COOL

I would hope this becomes a group thread on seeing all the cool ways old classic hunting ammunition or even military ammo used to be packed with all the neat little trinkets and intense packing methods employed by various ammunition manufactures.. I've become kinda fascinated with this whole side road of being a GUN NUTZ... SHOW US WHAT YOU HAVE!!!:agree:

FIRST UP..

A box of old DOMINION (C-I-L) 303 BRITISH. This box of 180 GR. Sabre Tips was packed like a box of fine cuban cigars... CHECK IT OUT.

HPIM2048.jpg

NOTICE HOW IT LISTS THE ROSS AND OTHER TYPES OF SPECIFIC .303 RIFLES ON THE BOX... COOL, YOU DON'T SEE THAT ANYMORE...;)
HPIM2047.jpg

LOOK AT THIS.. ITS LIKE TWO NEAT SHELVES OF CAREFULLY STACKED PIECES OF FINE BRASS
HPIM2049.jpg

CIGAR ANYONE...:runaway:
HPIM2050.jpg

AH SONNY JUST PUT THOSE CARTRIDGES UP BESIDE THE O'L ROSS LIKE A GENTLEMAN..:yingyang:
HPIM2051.jpg

NEXT UP A FINE BOX OF OLDER BROWNING RIFLE AMMUNITION. It is a nice golden box with fine styling and a big buck. Big 220 GRAIN SOFT POINT ROUND NOSE IN 30-06 CAL.

HPIM2052.jpg

HPIM2053.jpg

Look what pops out when you open the box?
HPIM2054.jpg

Pretty COOL, Browning put this little mini hunters guide neatly folded inside with the ammo.. YOU DON'T see this much anymore...
HPIM2056.jpg

Just look at those cartridges, fresh from the factory. MOOSE GETTERS.
HPIM2057.jpg

Fold open the mini guide and CHECK IT OUT.. Its chalk full of hunting tips... Remember how back in the day we just paid no attention to this fine detail in ammunition packaging.. Lets see what you have to show ....

Some old 32-40 with slip on top box &
a box of primers, all laid out in little wooded rows.

HPIM0387.JPG

And a box of .303 Ball, of course with the typical
"NOT FOR USE IN AIRCRAFT' warning on the label :D

And of course the usual CRAPPY photos taken by me

Hey I have a full box of those Supremes from Canadian Tire. Mostly because I don't have a 12 gauge.

Gallen270, your pictures just give me a headache.... Stand back farther and zoom in. Use Macro.

There should be a little flower icon. That is the close up function. Need that.

To prevent the flash from wiping out close up pictures, put a piece or two of white paper over the flash. That will tone it down. I have a old digital devoted to close up pictures for CGN. I have taped the paper in place.

Canadian Tire, Dominion, Canuck brands....sigh. Classics. And now all gone. Canadian Tire is increasingly anti-gun and CIL does paint. Sigh.:(

Aftermidknight I really like those CIL 38 Specials... CLASSY. Yep j-man Canadian Tire used to really be a CANADIAN STYLE store what with their own brand of hunting ammo... I used to buy all my shot shells in those classy brown boxes.. KEEP ER COMING.

Notice how much ammo USED to be made in Canada?
And now, with the population twice or three times what it was back then, we have self appointed "Experts" telling the rest of us that there cannot be a Canadian arms or ammo industry because we are too small a market.

I say fire up the factory, and lets all go buy homegrown ammo!

HELL YA!

And cool thread. Love the old ammo boxes, from back when things were done right. ;)

was thedutchess took them, with her new camera, i cant even turn the camera on. shes still playing with it, figuring it out. ill see if i can get better ones up

Also, look for the MACRO button on your camera. It may be signified by a little flower icon. That'll focus things up close.
